Best Bang For Your Buck?
OK folks, I want to pose a question; all I want is a simple name answer-----no reasons why etc. , etc.. Unfortunately you may have to think a little There are a few guidelines and don't worry there won't be a test afterwards.
It is like a poll but it isn't---I would consider it a vote that everyone has equal imput into regardless of ability-age-social status -etc etc.. that goes into this game.
I am asking this because I personally do not believe what I read in all the local magazines and publications; so here are a few guidelines;
1) you play at least 40 rounds per year
2) anywhere within the confines of this forum ie. inside a boundary from Eganville
to Montelello to Alexandria to Kingston and back to Eganville
3) suppose you are not a club member or a member of any discount golf club ie OG,
EG, Corp etc etc.
4) you were paying the regular walk-on rate including any specials or promotions the club had for all 40 rounds
The question is: WHERE DO YOU AS AN INDIVIDUAL FEEL YOU GET THE BEST VALUE
FOR YOUR GOLFING DOLLAR?
I will leave the question up for 7 days--tally up the answers and post results next week.
This requires thinking as to grooming, pace of play, food and everything that makes a day of golf a good experience.---and "NO" it has nothing to do with the cart girls! Lets just be serious for a few moments--maybe a few people will take notice--after all this is from a cross section of the general golfing publicDoes the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

If you're playing 40 rounds at the same course, I'd say you can't go wrong with Renfrew or Whitetail. Pick up a membership and you're looking at $25/round (or less).

I know this will offend many, but for me the best value is Clublink. Including my initiation and annual dues, my effective cost is about $45 per round (assumes about 80 rounds - once initiation is paid off the cost per round goes down). I am not stuck playing at just one club, I get to play 5 local courses any of which I would rate as being pretty much as good as it gets in the Ottawa area, and I get to play several resort and Montreal/Toronto courses which can cost up to $150 with no green fee to be paid.

If you're playing at the same course all the time, I'd have to agree with a couple other posters and say Renfrew.

If you are stuck paying green fees, I would agree with Renfrew. If you wanted to put a bit of variety in it, then add Upper Canada and Prescott which are under $50. For a bit more Loch March (not my favorite layout, but always excellent conditions for the $$).
Given these courses the amount of $$ you spend on gas will make you wish you bought a membership!!! ;-)

The question has an inherit flaw in it though. I can't imagine anyone planning on playing 40 rounds at one course and not bothering to become a member. Are there any courses where its a better cost option to just pay daily fees for 40 rounds?

Nope, its the question that is flawed. Your conditions would never be met by anyone who knew what they were doing.
As for Renfrew being a good choice, I do not see that unless you live there.
It is 100km from downtown, so 200km round trip, so for me $20 gas + $40 vehicle wear (20 cents per km)) = $60 + greens fees. Not sure how that makes sense.

Well like big mac's original thread stated, he just wants a course name. No explanations or opinions. The first few guys got it right.

I forgot to mention that if you go to Outaouais at twilight or during lower fee times, there's no better all around experience including food than that place in my honest opinion.

"Bang for you Buck" has to take all things into consideration since the green fee is only a portion of the expense to golf. With the price of gas hovering around $1.05/litre proximity of the course is a huge factor. People living in the East, West, South or Quebec are going to have different opinions (and they all have merit).
Meadows gets my vote. 36 holes, <15 min from home, good conditions and decent prices.
