    2007 Ottawa Citizen Amateur - possible?

    Hi all,

    I was originally unable to play in this tournament, but that's changed now. I contacted the organizer (as per the flyer) but she said that entries were closed, and I was the 4th alternate (she hasn't contacted me...no surprise).

    I was thinking of showing up at Stonebridge, and making myself available in case of a no show. Is this a dumb idea or a possibility for me?

    I'd say it couldn't hurt. Although not sure of your chances being the 4th alternate. But you never know, and being there would be beneficial if they needed someone last minute.

    Can't hurt to show. Historically they do not have many no-shows since, for the men especially, if you are a no-show, or DNF (i.e. no card handed in) you are ineligible for the next year. You could be in for a long wait though. First time is 8am and I believe the last tee-time is after 2pm. 6 hour day hanging around, before you even tee-off....

    Good luck if you get in though!

    Good point...I thought of the wait factor. However, is it worse than being at work? Besides, I may show up, chat with the organizers and they may say 'no go'. It also depends how I play this weekend. The game has been good, but my last round was a bit off. If the 'bad' form continues, I'll probably not try this. You don't want to head to Stonebridge off your game, or you will be exposed.

    I'll report back if I get in...

    Oops...I thought it was Monday...I guess that it is helpful to know when the first round is being played.
