Day off project
so i was looking around for stuff in the used bin at work and came across this..
its a Ping Anser Berrilyum (sp?) Copper
the thing was aged beyond recognition. all dark brown to black
spent a couple hours outside with my dremel and a tube of flitz. and my god she is so beautiful right now... i think i'm gonna turn her into a belly putter...
putter $35
tube of flitz $12
belly shaft $15
total $62
i like my investment. the pictures dont do it justice... shes gorgeous.

Nice! You could have saved yourself a bit of effort if you had just gone for the coke dip. Would'v been almost the same result, just a bit orangey on the shine, but still very shiny. This going to be your sunny day putter?

i didnt know about the coke dip... hmmmm... oh well. i didnt really have anything to do today so this kept me busy outside enjoying the fresh air...
this will most likly be my rainy day putter as its gonna be belly length... ive never tried one before on the course, but i was draining everything in the store with a similar one... so we'll see what happens. if not you may see it in the classifieds

I did the same thing with the same putter, it will not stay like this for too long, it will begin to get dark again.

So this is the putter you offered for me to use? I may be interested afterall. Blinding my opponents would be a huge advantage.

I had the same model as that years ago, minus the slot on the bottom. I coked mine and after I was done I realized I had made a big mistake. That putter was meant to be dark, that is exactly how PING made it.
It took a year and mine finally darkened up again and I kept it off the coke after that
Ping putters like that have character when they are in that condition.
It does look nice and shiny though! My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

Waaaaaay back when I used to have a Ping (MYDAY) I used to try and keep it shiny.
Ultimately it was a losing battle. Like Brian says, they are meant to darken with use.
