Emerald Links vs. Stonebridge
I always hesitate in choosing Emerald Links vs. Stonebridge or vice versa. I find both of them well maintain and with easy access whenever I want to play on weekdays.
Which one would you play before the other and why?

I am not an EL fan. In fact I would play almost any course rather than EL. A few holes that don't really fit my eye well, especially E3, E4, E7, S1, W4. I know lots of people who love the course, I just don't like it.
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

I voted for Stonebridge so that I could have Emerald to myself...
Happy F-Day to all,

Stonebridge. I like EL, but I'd play SB any day over EL.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I don't mind the south nine at EL, but the other two nines aren't my faves... that, and pace of play makes SB a winner, even though I dread the greens and the fescue.

this isn't even a fair question. SB ANY day of the week. I'd rather play a 9 hour round at SB then 3 3 hour rounds at EL. Too many stupid holes (especially S2) that I can't stand at EL.
Just my 2 cents

I don't find that EL merits the $$ they ask. Don't hate the course or anything, just expect a little more for that money.

Not even in the same league. SB is all quality all the time - and the best public pace of play I have ever seen.
EL has little to offer

Not so, for public courses in the Ottawa area, Lock March rules.

Stonebridge for sure
SB over EL any day of the week. I have way too much history playing the old EL without the game to do it...so many bad memories, so few tee shots ...

I think both courses are lots of fun and offer different challenges. I am trying to understand what holes some of you find stupid at EL... To me, a stupid hole is #17 at Chateau Cartier. EL doesn't have anything like it at all.
Just curious...

IMHO both are fine courses. I guess some people just don't like sharp doglegs.
Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

In terms of the overall layout, conditioning, pace of play, clubhouse, staff, SB wins in every category.
Don't get me wrong, EL is a fine course, but it does have a number of sharp doglegs and a few shortish holes, conditioning - especially there greens have been average (at least last year on E and W), you can get 3 hour nines out there, there clubhouse is ok but not in the league of SB and everytime I deal with someone in the proshop, its never been an overly welcoming experience. I also think for $52 for the weekend rate is a bit steep. Their twilight rates are decent however.I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Well, it looks that the crowd has spoken 8 of 10 that’s great. Haven played SB only a few times vs. EL, I guess it’s time for me to start playing there more often.
Thanks for the feedback.

Have never been out to stonebridge, but I find that the pace of play can be rushed at EL. The course was in great condition when I played it last year. Am sure it is some what the same this year.

Kept getting hasseled by Marshalls at Stonebridge on the pace of play, the one time I played it.

You will definitely get hassled by the marshal at Stonebridge if you fall beind the group ahead. On Sunday the Marshall made the group ahead of us wait for 5 minutes for us to catch up and play through because they were ehin their time. SB wants to ensure that everyone enojys a reasonable paced round of golf at their facility and the Marshalls do not screw around, you can't keep up the pace, pickup your ball and get off the course which is better than most courses in the Ottawa area!

Given that the two of us were hacking it up and you're an old fart with a bad knee the fact that we caught them was an indication that they needed to speed up.

Should be no problem. Hell, summer hasn't even officially started yet.
