Grips changed while you wait ?

Does anyone know (with some level of certainty) where I would have the best chance at having the grips changed on a couple of clubs while I wait. In my experience, the shop at Chuck Browns Golf will do it if your timing is good but if not, it can be fairly unpredictable. The grips on a couple of my wedges have been bugging me all year but I'd really like to avoid being without them for even a day or two since you really never know when a game may break out at this time of year ...

    Thanks in advance.

The best way... do them yourself! That way you can predict the exact time. Buy the grips at Golfworks in the Merivale industrial park. All you need is a knife to cut the old grips off, some new grips, some double sided tape, solvent (e.g. naptha), and a golf tee. They should be dry in an hour (plus or minus).

    Question

What's the tee used for when replacing grips?

Use the tee as a plug in the end of the grip, pour some solvent in the grip, slosh it around, pour the solvent over the tape (already on the shaft), pull out the tee and slide the grip on.

P.S. make sure you pull the tee out before sliding the grip on or the air gets trapped inside, then the tee pops out due to the increased pressure and you get sprayed with residual solvent from inside the grip and shaft.

Thanks powerlefty. I'll take the plunge this winter and start changing grips myself. This time, I was able to get the folks at Bob's Golf in Bells Corners to take care of it while I was waiting. I went in shortly after they opened, they weren't very busy and one of the guys that does repairs was able to do them right away. Next time, I do it myself!
