August 15, 2001 -- TORONTO -- The Canadian Tour announced today that it will play two tournaments of its six-event American winter season in Scottsdale, Arizona. Hosted by the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, the first event will be staged at McCormick Ranch Golf Club March 25 – 31, 2002, while The Golf Club at Eagle Mountain will host the second tournament April 1 – 7, 2002.

“We are absolutely delighted to be coming to Arizona for the first time in our Tour’s history,”stated Canadian Tour Commissioner Jacques Burelle. “It is no wonder that Scottsdale is so well known for its level of service; the people we’ve dealt with so far have been outstanding and their warmth truly has made us feel welcome. We look forward to establishing a long relationship with the Scottsdale and Arizona golf communities.”

“We are thrilled that the Canadian Tour and the Golf Channel recognize that Scottsdale offers a world-renowned and unique golf experience,” said Rachel Sacco, president and CEO of the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau embraced the opportunity to host these golf tournaments. The Golf Channel coverage offers a great opportunity to reach frequent golf travelers -- a group of people whose demographics match those of Scottsdale’s current visitor base.

The Golf Channel will provide four-round coverage of the Scottsdale events with three hours of live tournament coverage each day and 2½-hour prime time or late fringe replay. Viewers will also be able to catch the last three rounds of competition in an encore presentation during the week following competition.
