Uncut greens
With the dry weather we have been experiencing lately I have noticed during my last few rounds that the courses are not cutting the greens. It was not so bad at Les Vieux Moulins on the weekend but yesterday at Metcalfe the very shaggy greens took a lot away from what promised to be excellent conditions. It was very difficult to judge speed when the greens were so long and of course unpredictable. It really took away part of the enjoyment of the game.
I understand courses cannot afford to loose the greens but I am sure most have spinklers for the greens. Am I just unlucky or is this the situation at other courses??Lefty Lucas

At a course I worked at for 6 years we never cut the greens on Mondays.. It gave them a day off and it was a day that wasn't a ladies or mens night.. Just a thought.

But Lance, it was Wednesday and my playing partner said that the greens were not cut before the Exec Golf opening on saturday. It was just so unpleasant to get to the green and realise your chances of even 2 putting were out the window. I am jsut wondering if other courses were taking the same attitude of leaving the greens longer in the heat.

Thats unfortunate Luc.. My guess is perhaps they don't have the irrigation up and running properly yet?? Not sure.. Def. no fun to put on greens like that.

Guess if they are too long to putt on they won't mind if you chip on them?

That just means you were to far from the pin on your approach! Try hitting it closer to the flag next time. ha ha just kidding.
Had the same problem at poplar Grove 2 weeks ago, the greens were as long as the fairway.Lots of yoga pants these days, not enough Yoga!

played GlenMar yesterday and the greens were like a shag carpet....Canadian was long too (this weekend). Throws you off when you go play a course like Stonebridge where the greens are cut and fast

Not all courses are following such a strategy. Manderley's were cut nicely last weekend notwithstanding that they'd been aerated earlier in the week.

Played Renfrew today and everything was in great condition---except the heat
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?
