    Bending woods

Is there anybody in the Ottawa area that is able AND willing to bend woods? I am thinking mainly for loft.

Club I would like to get bent is an Ashton x-1 3 wood bent "strong" by >2°.

NB - I know that actual loft on a wood is measured based on the relationship between the sole plate and the clubface. I was thinking more the effective loft, which is the clubface to shaft relationship.

    Thanks,
    Charles

I don't know of anyone, but another option is to try and get one handpicked for a stronger loft too.

Thanks jv - I had already asked Ashton if they had any factory "defects" that were way outside of the tolerance range in the 9° to 12° range. They said no, and the strongest loft they have is within their tolerance range of +/- 1° - which would make it a 14°.

My latest question in to Ashton is: "Can the X-1 3wood be bent strong? If so, how much and are there any conditions that will help (i.e. extra heat)?"

I gather you are looking to build a "thriver".

There are a few component heads out there that are spec'd at 12* or 13* if loft is more important than the specific model.
