Loch March
Played the Loch today. Conditions were great (as usual). The greens were very receptive. A shade slower than usual, but rolling very nicely. The only places where there was any evidence of soggy ground was just short of the first fairway at the bottom of the hill, and the shortcut between #14 green and #15 tee (almost always wet). Fairways were near perfect, especially for early in the season, and the rough is already starting to get thick.
The new teebox on #3 is mint. A great new split bunker on the right side of #5, stretching from about 220 to 250 from the blues. It really frames the left side of the fairway and steers you towards the left fairway bunker at the 290 mark. There's some GUR just right of the 2nd bunker. It looks like they're bringing the rough out to the right more to pinch the landing area. Definitely a much tougher hole now. Re-leveled and re-sodded teebox on #6. New hole liners all around. A lot of the underbrush and dead trees have been removed.
Sid and his grounds crew continue to do a great job.
IMO, the best $65 (tax in) you can spend on a round in Ottawa. When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.
