Golf Weekend Getaway
In an attempt to surprise my wife (and get to play golf) I have been thinking about taking her away for a weekend getaway in which golf was included.
Can anybody make any suggestions as to where we could try? We are both high handicappers and one round on Saturday followed by beers and a hot tub would suffice.

How far are you trying to get away? Did you need something other than golf to entertain? I have 2 suggestions:
Calabogie has a stay and play (and room with a hot tub).
Tremblant has lots of rental properties, some with hot tubs, and more than just golf as an activity (hiking, sailing, swimming, etc.)
I hear northern New York has incredible deals as well, but haven't been.
Had a great time at Lake Tahoe, and other good times in Vegas.
Had a great time in Jamaica (golf and hot tubbing)...depends how far you want to go, etc.

Weekend getway that is driving distance strictly for R and R. I am sure the combination of hot tub and alcohol will stir my creative juices.

Re: Golf Weekend Getaway
Calabogie was a great idea, as was Tremblant. Here are some others:
Malone, NY
Lake Placid (highly recommended, might be the best place to get a well rounded getaway outside of Tremblant)
Renfrew - must be nice spots to stay, and Renfrew golf course is spectacular
Perth - stay at a B&B, play the very nice Perth Golf Club
Many others I'm sure

My girlfriend and i go every year to Calabogie. "play and stay".
They have big jacuzzi's in the room and there very nice rooms.
you can sit out on your patio and watch people tee off.
Its heaven!
In the "red" golf discount book you see at Chuck Browns they have a coupon for $119 per person.......2 rounds of golf and you stay.
You won't regret it.
Were both high handicappers also ( only golfing 2 years and only played around 10 rounds last year).

Lake Placid Golf trip
Just got back from Lake Placid.
We stayed at the Holliday Inn Resort. They charged us $79/per night each. This included the room, a buffet breakfast (served from 7am-10am only) and golf (cart included)
The golf course was awesome. 45 holes, The Mountain Course (18 holes), the Links Course (18 holes) and a 9 hole Executive course with 2 par 4's the rest were par 3's.
I played the Mountain Course. I was out at 7am, was the first one out, finished 18 by myself as the wife was a little under the weather. I finished in 1 hour 51 mins... I couldn't believe it.
The course was in great condition, although I found the greens extremely small. There were 4 greens that you cannot see from the fairway and you have to hit towards a post. That was just plain weird! I also played the exec course with the wife, it was well maintained and she seemed to really enjoy it. I did not get to try the much talked about Links Course as it was jammed.
All in all, it was a great trip, would do it again in a second.
