Going this weekend (May 5th) and I would like to play a game Saturday... any recommendations?

I grew up in Durham Region and try to play golf there whenever I go back. Generally you will find golf a bit more expensive than in Ottawa. I suggest you book a tee time as soon as possible.
My personal favourite is Royal Ashburn just north of Whitby. It has played host to the Canadian Tour qualifying school.
There are many excellent choices a bit further north in Scugog and Uxbridge townships. Wooden Sticks has some interesting replica holes including 17 at TPC Sawgrass. They do a lot of corporate golf during the week and often have weekend(yes weekend) specials.
Mill Run is good value and is this year's host for the Ontario Public Player championship.
There are many excellent courses in the area and with milder winters than Ottawa the courses are often in good shape in May.

Deer Creek, is probably the best value for the money. Especially the golf/dinner deal.

Just a bit north of Royal Ashburn is Okaridge.....a true hidden gem.
