Old school!
I was bored while bbq-ing tonight, so I figured I may as well do something. I have my first real set of clubs from when I was 12 still, and they were probably 10-15 years old then. They're Dunlop Bob Charles Professionals, probably most leftys of a certain age played them at some point. Just for you non-leftys, Bob Charles was a Kiwi and the first lefty to win a major championship, the 1963 British Open. I think he also won a Canadian Open as well. Anyway, the next one to win a major was Mike Weir, so Bob Charles has a pretty special place in lefty history.
Back to the clubs...the years of storing them in damp garages haven't been kind, but despite the surface rust, they still looked in decent shape so I figured I'd take some steel wool to them.
These are the before pics.

I'd love to play a round with Hicory's. After a trip to the range of course.

I was thinking about having them refinished, but when I looked at them they weren't too bad. Still have a bit of work to do in the grooves, but they turned out pretty good. (the sausages didn't )
I am definitely going to give them a tour. I learned how to play with them, they can't be that hard to hit, right? Right? I have another persimmon that I take to the range every now and then, love the 'crack' from puring one.
BTW, I am very afraid of the aluminum shafts. I guess at least they won't be rusted from the inside, but I don't like the idea of swinging clubs with beer cans for shafts.

Wonder why aluminum shafts never caught on. At one point Easton was making them. In pro baseball they won'I allow aluminum bats because of they are too powerful.

IIRC the problem with the aluminum shafts was they they tended to be brittle because of the particular alloy they used.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I have those same irons, actually my Dad's, I remember playing with them a few times, nice job on the refinish. Reminds me of the old Hogan Apex II's I had, first full set of clubs, damn those were hard hit but probaly no worse than the Mizuno TP-9's I am playing with now.
Props on the refinish.I golf therfore I swear
