The GD Top 100 List - Which have you played?
For anyone who's read the latest digest, which of the top 100 have you played? Let's see who's golfed the most. I think you need a membership to get the list on line, so if someone does, please post the list (in small font! )

You don't need to be a member.
Here's the URL. http://www.golfdigest.com/courses/americasgreatest/
From there, download the PDF.
From the top 100 Public list, i.e. the one's most of us can actually play, I have played:
#2: Pacific Dunes
#3: Pinehurst #2
#5: Bethpage Black
#7: Bandon Dunes
#11: Spyglass Hill
#21: Bandon Trails
#30: Pasatiempo
#48: Pinehurst #4
#55: Pinehurst #8
#70: Links at Spanish Bay
#90: Torrey Pines South
That gives me 11. And counting.

Very nice! We have an early leader, and probably a winner! Wow. Can your Mrs. talk to my Mrs.?

I can give lessons.
Like the time I convinced the wife that a family trip to Pinehurst for Easter was a good idea.

There are two courses in Maine that made their way into the top 100 public courses. They are Sugarloaf and Belgrade Lakes. I've played both many times and each is simply wonderful. If any of you are travelling to Maine, I would strongly recommend that you give them a try. If you are nervous about losing golf balls, though, I suggest that you opt for Belgrade Lakes. If your accuracy is off, Sugarloaf can gobble up a lot of golf balls especially if your ego temps you into playing either the blue or the championship tees. On the other hand, my wife played Sugarloaf and loved it. However, she plays within herself.

Eat your heart out guys. Don't have to convince my wife. A few years back she got invited to try out Banff Springs as part of her work as a conference manager. I was in Edmonton to make a presentation at a special event and she asked me to join her for the rest of the week. Did not take me too long to join her, believe me.
Not sure if Banff Springs is on that list.Keep it vertical!!

Banff Springs is on the top 100 outside the US list, absolutely gorgeous. And as nice as BS is, I think Jasper Park Lodge is even better (though I don't think its on the list).
