Nashville is very weak though. Peter the Great or not, playing in the central division has inflated their points total massively (same with detroit). Both those teams will struggle against a couple of strong teams in San Jose and Calgary.

So you must think Detroit is weak as well? They only finished 3 pts ahead of Nashville. Weak division or not, they still played in the Western conference against many good teams, and when Anaheim got out to a phenomenal start and faltered, Detroit and Nashville caught them in the standings. I don't think Nashville is as weak as you might perceive them to be.

So how do you defend Anaheim, San Jose and Dallas' and Vancouver's point totals as well? Anaheim, Dallas and San Jose were all in the same division and they had high point totals. Perhaps just the bottom half of the Western conference was weak???? If that is your rational, the Eastern conference must be stronger because the point totals are lower in general and more evenly spread out throughout the conference.

In my opinion, the top of the Western Conference is just stronger than most rest of the league (save for Buffalo) and when they played other teams they just beat up on them. Food for thought.

The top of the west is no doubt stronger than the rest of the league. What I question is whether the Preds and the Wings actually represent the top of the west. They have 48 gimme points against chicago, st louis, and columbus, and as a result, they finish with highly inflated point totals. Remember what happened to Detroit last year? I see no reason to believe that won't happen again. Vancouver got all those points playing in the toughest division in the league, so they are definitely strong. Anaheim ad San Jose, though not in the strongest division, are just teams who obviously have depth. The same cannot be said for Detroit, who is loaded up on non-performing Euros like Zetterberg and Datsyuk, and players who are too old to grind it out for an extended period in the playoffs. Nashville, on the other hand, is inexperienced and lacks any kind of depth. Neither detroit or Nashville would have finished with nearly so many points in another division.

3 for 4 in the Semis...not bad, 11/12 overall. I thought San Jose would put up a better fight. Guess I have to rejig the west. Anaheim over Detroit in 7.
