Steady Head
Marc,
I am a relatively new golfer who has been playing for the past two seasons. I, typically, shoot in the 110 range.
My main problem is my inability to keep my head still/body arc the same. I tend to staighten my right leg and/or get up on my left toe. This causes my body to straighten and my head to move backwards with the backswing.
Can you please suggest any drills/thoughts that I can utilize?
Regards
Moochie

Well, not being a certified instructor, I caution that my advice is solely from an effort to be helpful, and what has worked for me.
If your head is moving, and your swing arc is not true, then swaying is an issue. You must groove a swing that rotates around your spine, and even though there will be a small amount of sway as you transfer your weight from foot to foot, you must concentrate on swinging around your spine.
David Leadbetter's pivot drill comes to mind. Without a club, cross your arms in front of you so that each hand covers the opposite shoulder. Set your legs and spine angle as though you were preparing to hit your shot. Looking at yourself in a mirror, turn your upper torso (letting your hips and legs follow) so that your shoulders are as close to perpendicular to your swing path as possible, imitating a backswing. Now, unwind, slowly at first, until your shoulders turn through the shot to a finish which also approximates perpendicular to the target line.
As you do this, watch your head stay behind the ball, and your torso merely rotating around your spine. Ultimately, you will need somebody to watch you, to ensure you are not grooving a poor movement.

Tx, faldo...
Actually, I've dropped my index the last couple of months, but I'm still not prone to offering unsolicited advice or masquerading as an instructor.

I suppose Dan and Gary (not to mention Marc) will frown at me if I fail to add....
...if you have trouble with this, or any other aspect of your game, feel free to consult your local CPGA pro...
