who do you recommend for lessons?
Hi, I'm new to golf and very eager to learn the proper fundamentals.
I want to take private lessons.
Does anyone have a recommendation of where or who to go to?
I'm in Ottawa. Thanks

what part of the city are you in?
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

A number of people including myself from this site have had great experience and positive outcomes with Joe Dubinski. He teaches out at Bent Grass in Bells Corners during the winter and I think Kanata in the summer.

The following three instructors are all excellent and have different teaching techniques:
(i) Warren Grant www.warrenstotalgolf.com
Warren gets you on the correct swing plane as previously mentioned. I noticed he uses some of Ben Hogan's key instructional tips.
(ii) Don Rioux at The Marshes. http://www.brookstreethotel.com/golf...uctions_e.html
Don has a very large student base that comes from many clubs across the city. Don has been very focused on using the Model Golf instruction http://www.modelgolf.com/ for the past couple of years.
(iii) Gregg Foley at Kevin Haimes http://www.kevinhaime.com/shoponline...sp?cid=6&sid=9
Gregg uses alot of video during his instruction. He keeps his instruction easy to follow.
Good luck......."So many moving parts. Your whole body's moving, and this ball is not moving. It's standing still, laughing at you." Tiger Woods

I did the winter program at golftown (Winnipeg) and was very pleased with it. The package of 8 lessons allowed me to start with the basics and not feel rushed for a quick fix. It also helped being winter as I couldn't play anyhow so no pressure there either.
Having said that I'd much prefer to be taking lessons outside than inside given the choice. With summer coming I'd pass on golftown for that reason, not for anything against them.

I have taken lessons from Adam Holden at Kevin Haimes for the last 3 years. He is able to get his point across very well. In my opinion a very good instructor with a wealth of knowledge.

As far as the Gatineau side, I have a couple of names that people can check out:
Marc Foucault - I think that he's still at Kingsway but I'm not totally sure. He's a great golfer and a super teacher. He's done wonders for me in the past as I used to work for him at Mont Cascades. Speaking of Cascades.....
Kevin Osborne - Kevin gave the Shtickette lessons last year and improved her game dramaticly. He's the pro at Cascades now and he's very good at analyzing a players swing. He's also a fantastic player.
But IMO, the best teacher on the Quebec side is Eric Coddere. I'm not sure if he still works at Heritage or not, but he was the one who taught me how to play. Noback remembers him too. Without a doubt, he was the best teacher by far!!

Al Harvey at Island Greens (In Stittsville beside Karter's Corner) has been a big help to me.
Not sure when they open up, but if the weather ever improves, it should be soon.

Al Harvey Update
Sorry for providing stale information.
I need a tune-up and just discovered that Al Harvey has relocated to On The Green Driving Range and Mini Golf, 5510 Limebank Rd (Near Mitch Owens Rd) in Gloucester.
Hopefully, Al can continue to help me lower my handicap further.
(Sure is nice to see all this sunshine).
