    Swimming and Golf

I've heard that swimming regularly develops muscles that are bad for your golf game. Has anyone else heard this? Since my knees are buggered up, I thought I'd take up swimming. Mind you, I don't think my game has anywhere to go but up.

Swimming is an excellent resitance training program. As long as you are working on flexability very few "exercise programs" with the possible exception of Bodybuilding are detrimental to golf.
Where are you planning on swimming?

I'm still trying to find an inexpensive place. Carleton is closest, but you have to pay for parking on top of the cost of the swim. Maybe the nepean sportsplex when I move, but for now I have no clue. Suggestion?

Are you a good (ish) swimmer? ie can you swim 100m front crawl without dying
To start the Sportsplex is excellent. you can pay as you go to see if you are really going to like it Google "nepean sportsplex" the page that is #1 is actually the swimming sked. you've probably seen the facilities they are impressive.
If you are more adventurous (hard core)try www.nmsc.org. My wife swims 3 times/week and the coaching is quite good at all levels. I guarantee a regular swim will be a huge boost to your fitness level without too much joint stress.
Plus you get to wear a Speedo and nobody makes fun of you!
