long driving
The qualifier is set for June 21,22. I remember seeing something on the LDA website about a list of qualifier dates. Of course, while typing this, I tried in vain to find the list for you... I'll update the thread when I find something...
Run the following through your IE browser (it's one line)

Anybody (Dan?) has any idea how the qualification system works for that event? I don't have all weekend to spare to try to qualify...

Registration will begin at 11:00am for the long drive. The hitting in the grid starts at 12:00 and goes to 5:00 for both Saturday and Sunday. How it works is that you show up, pay your entry fee of $35.00 for 6 balls (I do believe the cost is $25.00 for the super seniors age 55+) and wait your turn to hit. The hitting order is on a first come first serve basis. Your name will be called and you can find out where you stand in the hitting order to warm up. You can enter as many times as you want. Mitch says that you average about two hitting attempts per day. However if you show up early you may be able to have more attempts.
My advise is to get there about an hour before the event starts to register and warm up.
Hope this helps!

sad!
I was all hyped up about going, but it looks like I won't be able to make it all weekend, will be out of town. I was looking forward to it, i like challenging myself like that, and it sounds like a lot of fun. I guess i'll catch them next year(hopefully)!! :crying

Longest hit today!
The longest hit for today, June21st was 345 yards. It was one of the first hits of the day when there was no wind. Later in the day the wind blew from the North (river wind) and the best balls were in the 325 yardish range.
So if you think you can beat that distance come on out and give it your best shot tomorrow!
But remember to hold on to your club when you swing!

Long Drive Winner on Sunday
The Long Ball Hitter from Halifax , "Carson Way" defended his title by winning the open on Sunday's qualifier. He is the guy swinging out of his shoes in the above pictures.
There was about a 40 km wind and he connected with a big one to win it. That distance held up through a gambit of competitors on his heels.
I can't remember his exact drive but it was close to 330 yards.
Too long to count for us mere mortals!
What a day!..... My back is sore from watching!!
Steve
