Local Range Finder Approval

Golf Quebec and the Ottawa Valley Golf Association have approved the use of distance measuring only ranger finders in tournament play. However, before a range finder can be used at a golf club for handicap purposes, the club's committee/Board, must approve their use and should post this fact in its local rules.

To those who are dues paying members of local golf clubs, I would be interesting in finding out what clubs have:
(1) an approved local rule, allowing the use of rangefinders.
(2) no local rule but we use rangefinders anyway.
(3) no local rule and we don't use them.

Rivermead approved them in the use of all club tournaments last year (distance only obviously).

The Clublink courses are selling GPS and range finders in the pro shops. As well, they have put reflectors on top of all of the pins to assist in determining the range. I couldn't tell you if they actually ammended the local rules for them or not unfortunately, so I will guess (2).

I haven't seen a local rule from CL as of yet, mind you I haven't really looked for one. But you would think they would if they are selling the SskyCaddie and such...but I will definitely have to check.

I did not see a written local rule BUT our Hautes Plaines club pro personally told me that they are approved.
