335 vs 350 tip driver question

    Hi all,

Here's a newbie question for you. Is it possible to insert a 335 tip driver shaft in a head suited for a 350 tip shaft? If so, will the 'adjustments' necessary alter the shaft characteristics at all? If it matters, the affected clubhead is a Callaway FT-5.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Yes it is possible.

All you need is a shim to make sure that the shaft is properly centered in the hosel.

Are there any real drawbacks to doing this? I'm thinking about picking up a G5 head and having the shaft in my 983E pulled and swapped in.

Another question to go along, will there be any problems pulling from a bore-thru and inserting in a standard hossel?

    Thanks

No real drawbacks to putting a .335 into a .350.

With a bore through there will be a lot more of the tip prepped than a regular bore. This is especially true of the older Titleists. Even after trimming the tip to make it play the same in the regular bore as the bore through there will likely be some prepped section showing.

It shouldn't affect playability or strength if it was done right, but would look ugly as sin.

Cool, well I like the shaft, and I just want to try it out. I could always go and put some Superman Stickers on the prepped section to cover up the ugly.
