    Hybrid Shafts?

I am looking into replacing my old hybrid with 2 new ones. I was always under the impression that if I'm hitting steel shafted irons then it would be the same for the hybrids as well, opposed to graphite shafts which I assumed were generally for women and seniors (no offence). Now I'm noticing the higher end clubs offer steel, graphite and a composite shaft (eg. Aldila) or just steel and composite.
The reason I am confused is that the Adila shaft on the ones that i have seen are the NV or the the newer VS which is the ones I'd prefer in my driver. Is the composite shaft just gravy for the steel shafted golfer? If not, which is right for the golfer with a 90mph + swing and steel shafted irons?

    Cheers.

All shaft decisions are about feel and suitability for the golfer. There is no general right or wrong answer to this.

For example, you can buy "steel-weighted" graphite shafts and ultra-lite steel shafts that are close to some graphite shaft weights.

What really matters is how the particular shaft performs with your swing.

    Couple things...

Graphite and Composite are the same thing.

No, they are not for seniors and women. Have you watched a tour event lately? Most of these guys are hitting graphite in their FWs and hybrids these days. Graphite can be just as consistent as steel nowadays.

i have a graphite Matrix Altus Hybrid shaft in my Adams and its much easy to hit than any steel shaft i have used in hybrid before. I find it easy to hit the ball in the air, yet keep a nice enough flight that it won't baloon on me.

You can't go wrong with the UST Irod hybrid shaft. I have one in my Nickent 3DX, and eventhough I don't use it anymore, the shaft was amazing. I just decided to go fairway woods instead.
