I am surprised that Scarboro would rank so low, I love that course.

    14. Banff Springs Golf Club - Stanley Thompson Eighteen
    26. Kananaskis Country Golf Course - Mount Kidd Course
    46. Kananaskis Country Golf Course - Mount Lorette Course
I played these about 20 years ago when I lived in Calgary, the scenery of all is amazing.

    34. Le Geant
    69. Le Diable
I have played these multiple times the last few summers, and really liked them. But the cost is pretty high, so now when I go to Tremblant I will likely stick to Le Maitre or pop down to one of the 3 Clublink courses in Montreal.

    75. Eagle Creek Golf Course
This is my favorite Ottawa course, and now that I get to play it as a Clublink member I'm sure I will be there far more times than before.

    13. Glen Abbey Golf Club
    19. Rocky Crest Golf Resort
    33. Le Maitre de Mont-Tremblant
    86. Delta The Lake Joseph Club
I haven't played these yet, but they are all on my to-do list for this summer (all Clublink).

    10. The Links at Crowbush Cove
    43. Dundarave Golf Course
    85. Brudenell River Golf Course
Haven't played these, but plan to this fall.

Here's my list, of which Highlands is my favourite: Highlands; Crowbush (very good challenge), Glen Arbour (remarkable city course); Banff (9 rounds in one week!); Glen Abbey (the valley holes are the best); Fox Hab'r (fantastic seaside course); Bell Bay (real NS test); Lookout Point (precise shotmaking required); Eagle Creek; Algonquin (beautiful and challenging NB seaside course); Royal Oaks; Brudenell (course grows on you - it looks easy, but it isn't); Cherry Hills (beautiful old style course - watched Gay Brewer win the 1972 Canadian Open there - tough field - Lee Trevino, among others, was in the field - watching him on the range for a week was something else); Whirlpool (I could spend my life playing that track).

Hamilton #3 played a long time ago in the rain. nothing stands out in my memory
Highlands #7 great fun. views are fantastic. loved the names on the holes.
Glen Abbey #13 Definite favorite. Played it over 200 times and still love it. Lots of risk and reward decisions to make.
    Brantford #29
    Wooden Sticks #44
Whirlpool #91 this has always been a favorite. i like the 5 par fives and 5 par threes.
    National Pines #92
Aim at nothing and you will hit it every time.

    I've played 10:
    • 10. The Links at Crowbush Cove
    • 12. The Royal Montreal Golf Club - Blue
    • 19. Rocky Crest Golf Resort
    • 33. Le Maitre de Mont-Tremblant
    • 34. Mont Tremblant Resort - Le Geant
    • 43. Dundarave Golf Course
    • 69. Le Diable
    • 75. Eagle Creek Golf Course
    • 79. Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club
    • 85. Brudenell River Golf Course
My favourite is Rocky Crest, however that is tempered by the fact that I played the Royal early in the season in not prime condition, and the Links when I first started golfing and I'm not sure I really appreciated it as I was in the woods so often on my way to a stellar 128!

I should add a few more this year as I am planning a trip to Niagara Labour Day weekend.

I've had the pleasure of playing a few:

    13. Glen Abbey Golf Club
    18. Westmount Golf and Country Club
    19. Rocky Crest Golf Resort
    30. Deerhurst Highlands Golf Course - Deerhurst Highlands
    39. Deer Ridge Golf Course
    75. Eagle Creek Golf Course
    97. Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends Course

And the best of the bunch was definitely Westmount in Kitchener by a long shot. It really shouldn't be outside the top 10, inside which it sat for many years. This course has held many championships and is a true test of golf. The conditioning is second to none, and the clubhouse is nice, if not a bit stuffy. The practice facility is also A+.

I can't say enough about this course, aside from the fact that it is a classic Stanley Thompson design that has been kept up since it opened. A real treat.

I've played the following 9 courses:

    #7 Highlands Links
    #10 Crowbush
    #24 Glen Arbour
    #25 Fox Harbour
    #43 Dundarave
    #75 Eagle Creek
    #82 Algonquin
    #83 Royal Oaks Estates
    #85 Brudenell

In terms of courses that I've played that are not on the list, I'd have to add Anderson's Creek, Glasgo Hills, Eagles Glenn and Mill River (all on PEI) as in my opinion those 3 courses are all better or at the very least equal to Brudenell.

If this was a list of the top 100 courses in Canada in terms of value for your green fee dollar - I think you'd see 8-10 PEI courses very high on the list - simply a great golf destination

I played 7 of these (Miatre, Geant, Diable, Ch Whistler, Nick North, Big Sky (WOW), EC)and I am surprised that one of them is not on there. It is as difficult as Eagle Creek and much nicer scenary, the course is Crown Ilse near Comox BC on vancouver Island

My Canadian list is much shorter than my US.

    #75 Eagle Creek
    #99 Falcon

I'd be curious to see what the list would be like if they took off the private courses.

No, private. Really nice Tillinghast design that, at least when I use to play it, was kept in excellent condition. I'd rate it in the top 3 of the old private clubs in TO.

    Top 100

Here are the ones I have played: - with comments

    13. Glen Abbey - overrated, 5 great holes, the rest are ordinary
    19. Rocky Crest - a few great holes, some amazing scenery
    33. Le Maitre - very nice, great conditioning, nice layout
    52. Heron Point - pure golf - one of my favorites
    75. Eagle Creek - feels like Myrtle Beach in Ottawa
    79. Westwood Plateau - Nice, I did not like the surrounding houses, and not as
good as the UBC Golf club which is just pure golf
    91. Niagara Whirlpool - A classic Stanley Thompson design, the best Niagara course
    - not flashy, but great.
    92. National Pines - a lot like Heron Point - very well conditioned and nice layout
    93. St.Charles - old classic course
    97. Lionhead - as tough as they come - every approach is long and to an elevated green protected by huge, and deep bunkers. You have to be on to play here.

    Missing:
Kings Forest in Hamliton - best golf for the money anywhere
Storey Creek - in Cambpell River BC - great course, huge trees, its all about the golf
UBC Golf Club - University course, not expensive but a classic

I've only played one, Eagle Creek, so I'd have to say its my favourite. I don't get out much.

But I'm going to try to get out and play Timber Ridge this summer.

Having only 3 seasons of golf experience behind me my list is not long, but hope to keep it growing each year.

    I have played:

#10 Links at Crowbush Cove - Lived up to all the hype. Ocean, Dunes, what more can I say but Spectacular......

#34 Tremblant: Le Geant - Played it twice. Great mountain course and scenery.
Love the finishing hole #18 with drive over the gourge/lake and then blind shot to green with the Lake in the background.

#69 Tremblant: Le Diable - Played it once and unfortunately it was the beginning of my 2nd year in golf, so needless to say spent some time in those "scary" waste bunkers. Not a big fan of the opening holes and waste bunkers, but liked most of the back nine.

I believe that once The Rock in Muskoka reopens in 2008 after some "tweaking" to make it more player friendly and the JW Marriott Resort Hotel
opens as well it will not be long before it appears in the Top 100. Will be a great resort course like Taboo.

Marshes may make it someday.....???Never know what Sir Terry Matthews "has up his sleeve" once he is finished with the Celtic Manor and 2010 Ryder Cup......

    I've played:

    7. Highlands Links Golf Club (played with a bad back, was able to make a 3/4 swing by the 18th)
    10. The Links at Crowbush Cove (multiple times... I'm from PEI!)
    40. Bell Bay Golf Club (played after a massive rain storm)
    43. Dundarave Golf Course (a LOT of fescue!)
    75. Eagle Creek Golf Course (A few memorable matches here!)
    85. Brudenell River Golf Course (a LONG LONG time ago)

If it counts, I've watched the Canadian Open at both Glen Abbey and Royal Montreal.

I've played Royal Colwood (27), Victoria (42 - strangely got missed from the web page, but it's on the .pdf) and Bear Mountain (47).
