    CIS Basketball Championship

With all the "hype" of the NCAA March Madness south of the border our Canadian University Basketball often gets overlooked.
These kids are the true sense of "Student Athletes" not "Athlete Students" waiting to leave school after their Junior year for the NBA.

Carleton University is back to defend their title and try for a 5th consecutive National Championship. Carleton had a bit of an off year for their standards after having an amazing 87 game winning streak which lasted more than 3 1/2 years.
Even in some exhibition games against top US schools such as UCLA and Louisville Carleton held their own. Lost in the last seconds to top ranked Louisville last fall.

Carleton handed Acadia a thumping in tonights quarter Final 86 - 38 which sets up a terrific Semi-final match with cross-town rival Ottawa U. who handled UBC 92-85.
Ottawa U. has given Carleton a tough time this season, so it should make for a great game.

lets go RAVENS!!!! I just finished up at school at Carleton last April and they won the Nationals every year that i was there, on the golf team.

They have had a great team, and its unbelievable that a team can win that many years in a row, lets hope they KILL the GeeGees, nobody likes the cross-town rivals!!

Yes, it was a sweet night !! Watched the Sens win from some great Level 100 Club Seats, enjoyed alittle post victory/St. Pats Day celebration at Marshies while watching the Leafs lose the shootout to Les Canadiens, and then saw that the Ravens beat the Gee Gees easily in the Semis.

Look forward to a FivePeat tomorrow !!!

    GO RAVENS !!!

Dave, I looked you up on the golf team website. You swing some good sticks !!

I did not even know that there was CIS golf until this past year with the guy from University of Waterloo who did great at The Canadian Open. Also, my friends son is 15 and one of Ottawa's good Junior golfers and the University of Ottawa has already been contacting him. Guess they want to try and persuade him that there are more options than just looking south of the border.

It must have been a great party in Hailfax when you saw the first four title wins.
As a former alumni I can say that Carleton Students always know how to have a "great party"!!

It is great to see the success and discipline that Dave Smart has created at Carleton. When I attended "many....." years ago the team always struggled. One of
my friends was on team and even showed up to a game "alittle drunk" after sitting in Olivers all afternoon. He did not think he would play at all that night, but ended up playing a few minutes. We were killing ourselves laughing in the stands.
Somehow I do not think Dave Smart would put up with that...........!!!!
At that time attendence was usually F & R (Friends and Relatives) so they were lucky to get 100 people.

Fun days at Carleton. Best years of my life !!!
