Not me, but my father in law had it done.

He went from being a total gimp in constant pain to being able to walk 18 holes.

How long did it take him before he could play golf again?

My grandfather had both done a couple years apart in his early 70s. He went from barely playing 6 holes while in a cart back to walking a full 18 or more. Gave him about 10 more years playing before other health issues kicked in. My wife's godmother had it done recently and it has given her a whole new lease on life. Much reduced pain, much more active.

It was a while ago so I don't remember exactly. I think he had the surgery in the winter and played that summer.

That sounds encouraging. My doc said get as much golf in as I can this year..... so that has worried me a weeeee bit.... mind you I guess giving up a year of golf to be able to walk pain free would be worth it I guess.

If you are scheduled for surgery anytime from Sep - Dec you should be fine for the next season.

My grandfather was swinging a club within two weeks of his first operation, but he was more golfnuts than anyone on this site, and it probably set his recovery back. Second operation was in late fall/early winter and he played as normal starting in the spring.

Dervin did my knee (ACL/meniscus). No complaints here, except my wife thinks he's super hot!
