It's a very nice putter btw. Much better than the Red X. Maybe the loft on my Red X wasn't right as the ball skidded before starting rolling properly. Never had this problem with the Phantom and much better feel anyway. If you like mallets, I'm sure you'd love this one. You have the choice between heel shafted or center shaft.

Centre shafted (Phantom Mallet 2) is the way to go. I had one (surprise, surprise) and was one of the best putters I've ever owned. So much confidence with that thing, one of the few clubs I regret giving up.

I played a couple of rounds with our Pro Jean and he has one. It has a great feel to it. I play with a Big Ben Bettinardi. I like it but I think I need a change.

gotta agree with the phantom mallet sentiments. I had the heel-shafted version and it rolled the ball unbelievably. I have a buddy that has been using his Newport Tei3 since he was 13, so 9 years without switching putters for more than a round just to mess around. I let him try the phantom, and he used it for 3months, until i sold it on him!

Newport SS, Newport SS 2.5, SD 1.5, SD 5, Santa Fe Tei3, GB Napa, AC VII, Ben Curtis, Mike Weir. But I still own 6 of them. Does that make me a "ho" or just stupid?

Does that count the ones that you've owned multiple times? Or is that the number of distinct models you've owned?

What are my options if I want the shaft shorter and the angle adjusted, is it possible and what are my options? I figure I will need to add weight but I’m not sure if the lie angle is adjustable. Will all these adjustment screw up the feel?

    Mike,
I have a center shafted model and it is a great putter. The lie cannot be adjusted in a lie bending machine or like a traditional putter. I had mine custom fitted by Don at Artisan and he did a great job. What a had him do has remove the shaft and he put a slight bend in the shaft a few insches away from the hosel and got the lie that I like. It made a big difference in the way the ball rolled IMO. As for the height, any putter can be cut or extended but you'll have to use a counter weight in the end of the shaft or lead tape to get the weight to where you want it. I'd wait and buy one that is as close to the right height and then just fine tune it. I'd also go to someone like Don and have him do the adjustments for the lie and weight. He didn't charge me very much to have it done and it was worth it.

If you add weight doesn’t that change the balance of the putter?
