Is Tiger's streak legit?
Kenny Perry was lamenting the weather report on the range at the FBR Open a couple of weeks ago. The Valley of the Sun was living up to its name this day, but rain and cool temperatures were in the immediate forecast.

Whether you think his streak is "legit" or not the tour has to love it.. Its more amo for them. More people tune in when Tiger is playing.... Now by promoting the streak, I would imagine even more people will watch.

IMO a "STREAK" is 7 tournaments in a row, 7 wins in a row.
Bryon Nelson's "11 Win Streak" came in 11 consecutive tournaments. Sure those events were not played within an 11 week period. That is not how the PGA was set up back then as it was during the war.
However Lord Byron won 11 straight events, 11 in a row in the same year.
What is it with Woods? He wins the 4 Majors in two different years and all of a sudden the media calls it THE TIGER SLAM. It seems that whenever they can hype this guy up they jump on their pens and get it done.
As someone said, if he loses this week then that won't count towards his "STREAK" as it was Match Play. Much like the events he lost in Asia. NON PGA EVENTS, so those do not count.
There is NO STREAK!
Hey maybe we'll get lucky and see a "STREAKER" at the Match Play!My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

yeah, i bet though , that if he loses this weekend , theyll say its "still alive" since its not a stroke play tourney.
its lame IMO

I think it's streak of sorts. He played 7 PGA events, he won all 7, its just not 7 consecutive events. The only downfall I saw was him skipping the Nissan, presumably as he never does well there.
I say he wins this weekend, especially now that's he's the last of the Top 8 seeds.Lots of yoga pants these days, not enough Yoga!

Yeah but we will hear .........."that was a match play so it doesnt count. The streak continues"
and after the next loss it will something else. and so on and so and so . He should have 12th in a row done in no time at all.I've spent most of my life golfing .... the rest I've just wasted"

It makes golf exciting, thats for sure. I really got into the buick tourny. Love him or hate him, he's selling golf memberships to courses everywhere.

I don't think it's jealousy Hack. If it was, then every single person on here should be jealous of every single pro on all the tours because they are without a question much better then anyone here. I think it's just fatigue of the subject matter. If you're not a fan of Tiger, it gets frustrating because you have to either use the internet or wait for that little alphabetical ticker on tv to see how your favourite golfers are doing. I have no problem with Tiger, he's awesome, but I wish the coverage would focus on the top 25 in a tournament instead of Tiger and the top 3.

To me it kinda parallels the fact that radio stations play the heck out of popular songs. I dunno about you, but even if I really like a tune, after hearing it several times a day for a month or two, I am sick of it.

I hear ya Donny, but the same thing happens when Tiger is NOT in a tourney. Look at Hefty's melt down in the Nissan.......the cameras were on him everybit as much as they are on Tiger. That is just the way that golf is broadcast IMO.
The networks have their favorite stars and we see every shot, every bite of banana, every "nature break" that they take.

Not sure I would use the term 'jealous' to describe the discussions about him. (well, maybe when its figjam doing the talking)
He is the #1 golfer in the world and a big target for people who like the underdogs over the favorites. All of us would give our eye teeth to change places with him, or any other pro for that matter but it is fun to pick our favorite player (or team) and tell everyone why he is better than the other person most favorite..... just look at the hockey debates in Ontario... same damned thing....its called competition
