To game or not to game......
That is the question. So now I seek the all knowing wisdom from my fellow forum members.
Just a bit of background first:
I recently got this putter from a forum member. It has been restored to mint condition. It is a gun blue putter. And as we all know, gb putters are notorious for rusting if not maintained properly. So here's my issue......I really like the look of this putter. Originally I just wanted to keep it as a show piece. Now granted it is not one of the most sought after Scotty putters, to me, its in such nice shape I feel I should keep it that way.
Anyways, here it is:

So do I game it, or this putter has been offered to me:

Do I pick up this putter and game it instead.

Game the gun blue. You can not beat a Cameron raw carbon putter for feel, certainly going to be waaaaayyyyyyy softer than the SS. If you're just going to flip it soon, sell the GB in its current state.

Use it, keep it oiled all the time and you won't see any rust issues.

Game it. No point in having a show piece only you can see. Show it at the course.

unless all your friends are golfers. It will be more explaining why you have a $300 putter above your door then having a conversation about it. At the course everyone will be willing to talk about the putter. and if you like the feel like you say its that much more impresive when you actually sink putts with it.

If the goal was to collect and display a rack of Scotties, like the wealthy do, then I'd change my vote. Let's face it, he's looking at a pretty "affordable" course for his membership, so I don't think there is money to burn here. That's a beautiful putter. Play and enjoy it!

I wasn't looking at a collection. I just really like the look of the gb putters and didn't want to risk rusting it. And figured if I could make up some sort of display and hang it on the basement wall it would be pretty cool.

You'll still have to look after it even if it's mounted on a wall. Will need regular oiling to not rust from normal house humidty. Headcover would protect it, but putters mounted on the wall with headcovers look stupid.

It's Purple!!! lol. and no. and the 'rack' is now two putters short of what it once was. Just the Circa, the SD1 and my grandfather's original Ping Dale head. And they're PERFECT, Lance, lol.
