Thank you Sakuraba. You are reading correct. The last one is not out. or marshes. It is another private track in the region on the quebec side and it starts with a R... again from what I was told the courses are signed sealed and not delivered which will happen next week! This will be your best cash$ spent this summer if you make even just 3 out of 4 rounds!

That is definitely quite the line up. The registration numbers should be up this year. Who wouldn't want to play those courses for $150. Even if you dont make the cuts, its still a good deal.

it is a potential great line up.

I have been reading these forums for quite some time and I have to ask. Why would the lineup of courses determine if you are going to apply to play. If your look at anyone who is a 8 index or lower who competes a lot like GarthM or Thunder, or myself, we would tee it up in a tournament in a parking lot. I play tournaments because I thrive on competition, if I want to pay a nice course, I won't take a spot in a tournament just to go for a nice walk and enjoy the scenery, but we enter events because we feel we can win them. I have been paired in the Citizen a couple of years ago with players who enter because the courses are great, and they shoot 99 after saying they are an 8 index to get into the event, and their game did not resemble anything close to an 8 or under. I also find that these same people are the ones saying that the entry system to the Citizen or OVGA is flawed blah blah blah...although you never hear the COMPETITORS who play in these events every year complaining. I have played in multiple provincial amateurs in different provinces, state amateurs in the US, and RCGA National Events and everyone at these events would play a track like Edgewood if the tournament was being held there. The Ottawa Citizen Amateur is run and administered as well as (if not better than) The Alex of Tunis, Duke of Kent, and the Quebec Amateur.

    Just asking...

Most 8 or under caps wouldn't normally get a chance to play Rideau View or Rivermead. Most of the higher cappers that are thinking about entering the Citizen but know they don't have a chance to win might think otherwise of entering. Hence the added incentive to enter the Citizen. They probably do thrive on competition, but the chance to compete on some of the nicest tracks in the valley is an even better carrot dangling at the end of the rope.

thats's a great answer Geoff, but my reply is, why then whine and complain about the tournament commitee and the tournament structure, and courses selected to play it on, if the only carrot to enter is to play nice courses. I remember a thread here last summer "how would you fix the Ottawa Citizen..." I have never met anyone in any of the tournaments I play in that thought it was flawed or broken. Rather, they think it may be the best run event of all of the big events we play each summer in the region.

    Once again, just askin'...

The Citizen is definitely one of the better run tournaments! The only issue I've ever had with them is that there is no massage therapists at the turn and at 18 I did have one issue a few years ago at Stonebridge. It was my first ever tournament and barely broke 90. To this day, I still think the greens were too hard and too fast. The dir. of golf thought we were playing in the US Open.

    I'll take a stab.

For most of us who aren't members of clubs the Citizen is really the only "official" tournament we can enter. The OVGA run tournaments are entry restricted because of the ladder system.

Every one enters for different reasons. Since I'm on the borderline for entry my goal, if I get in, is to make the 36 hole cut.

The thread you are referring to was based on a situation that arose about the handicapping/entry into the tournament. Now I won't re-hash what that was all about, but that was the gist of the "How to fix the Citizen..." thead.

Just touching on what Marcf and G johnston were talking about. It is kind of funny to see how many guys want to play just because of the courses. I know for a fact that if the City and Districts were held at 3 of these courses last year it would have been sold out. Instead there were only 90 somethin players. I see both sides of the coin here and I believe both parties are fair in there points. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of playing top courses every tourney. So if your going to pick and choose your venues, this will be a good one. But if you want to truely compete you'll play any of them!!!

I personally was going to try and get in regardless of the courses, i'm just excited about the ones listed that's all. I've already played all of them multiple times but i like the lineup so it gets me a little more pumped.

That seems odd considering the last couple years schedules. 2 days in between the final rounds is unusual, and I don't think we've ever played on a Thursday before (july 5th).

I just hope the dates are wrong. I’m out of town on the 30th and the 1st.

    Looks like it is official:

Stonebridge, Rivermead, Kanata, Eagle Creek. I must say I am really surprised that Rivermead would give itself up for a full field event.

Applications have been received in the mail already.

What happened to Rideau View? According to stinger the courses for the Citizen this year were SB, EC, Rivermead and RV......

Are the courses you listed in round order (i.e. SB 1st round, RM 2nd round, etc.)?

Ya what is the order played and the official dates? The dates are what I’m concerned about more then anything.

My original source was incorrect. Called home to confirm with the missus:

    July 5th -- Stonebridge
    July 16th -- Rivermead
July 30th -- RideauView (not KL)
    Aug 1st -- Eagle Creek
