Swingweights
I am planning on changing out my driver shaft to go with a higher torque lighter shaft. The shaft will be 13g lighter (65g to 52g) and so to keep the same SW, how many grams must I add to the head? I know that it is not a straight swap.
Please correct me if I am wrong but is the formula as follows?
6g shaft = 1 sw
2g head = 1 SW
if so then the shaft replacement will allow 4g more to the head (grip being the same weight as before) to retain the same SW?
ThanksLefty Lucas

Shafts are more like 9gms = 1 swing weight
With the shaft being 13 gms lighter you will need to add more like 3gms to the headweight to maintain SW.Thanks, Dan

Forget about swt., and minimize total weight, and you might increase your mph swingspeed and gain some distance ... hfs

Maybe
Your suggestions makes sense, I may do that but I am worried about losing feel of the clubhead.

With a 52gm shaft I would worry that the overall weight is beginning to get too light, possibly loosing feel. As chief say's you can add lead but this will be on the visible part of your club and you may not like this.
Yes you can find the weight that works, pull the head and add weight. Thanks, Dan

Weights
Thanks for the suggestions fellas, I can add heavier weights directly to my R7, I would not need tape, the impact tape is a good idea. What about the grip weight, I noticed that my grip is about 7g lighter than the stock grip. I guess once the shaft and grip are installed I can tweak the head weight and work from there. Thanks for all your help. The more I learn the more I am interested and I am thinking of taking a course on clubmaking. Nothing to in depth, any suggestions on what to take and where. Golfworks must offer something.

Golfworks in Ottawa offers a couple of great courses. I've known those guys for years and they do know there stuff. I've also had the pleasure of attending the Professional Clubfitting & The Masters course in Newark - Ralph Maltby's Clubmaking Academy.
As far as your grip goes the 7 gms less will add to your swing weight about a point - point and a half. -No biggieThanks, Dan

The Ottawa Citizen has auctions where local retailers offer items. In the last two of these Golfworks had equipment and/or clubmaking courses available.
Reserve is 50%, so you may get the items at as little as half price - that is what I paid for a clubmaking course, a shaft puller, etc.
