Way better. Go rent the mini series from 2003.
Season 1 and 2 are also available on DVD if you like the mini series. Season 3 is up to episode 13 I think now, so I would not start with the current broadcast episodes. It wouldn't make sense at all.

Star Trek II The wrath of Kahn was one of the best space movies ever made. Every other ST movie was boring in my opinion.

I enjoyed Star Trek (the original series). I tried to watch the rest, but I lost interest in TNG the day Wesley showed up. DS9 was all political garbage. "Enterprise" showed prommise, but got stupidly political again.

So, no not really a Treckie, but I enjoy really well written Sci Fi. I read everything Robert A Heinlien ever wrote when I was a kid. They butchered Starship Troopers when they made it a movie.

......I really enjoyed "The day the earth stood still" and "Forbidden planet" two oldies but goodies, It's a conspiracy that they don't make many like that anymore,(had to keep on topic )
