    Scotty Cameron Trivia

There has been much discussion about the evolution of the red dot on Scotty’s putters. The original red dot was used when creating a putter for a well known PGA Tour player. Scotty wanted the sweetspot perfectly centered with the sightdot and Scotty removed weight from the heel in the cavity to achieve this perfect balance. Later, when Scotty was shopping for a camera for his wife he noticed a brand that had a big red dot and liked the way it looked. The red dot started showing up on more and more putters, some to remove weight as performance enhancements and others as strictly cosmetic. Today the single red dot is used on putters made for Tour and three red dots are used on production models.
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

Red Dot – 1st made for Tiger Woods only, but made later to denote a putter made for Tour.

i think he stopped doing the red dot, cuz it was too easy to get a drill press and make their own red dot and play it off as a tour model... CT or CL stamps are a little harder to copy...
