Winn Grips - are they the best?
Hi, do you agree with Butch Harmon, John Daly and Natalie Gulbis that winn grips are the best. I am ready for new grips and have never tried Winn.
What company grips do you like?
What model of Winn do people on the forum prefer and would they ever go back to a non-winn grip.

nah man not winn. too soft, bad in the rain.
i play gp tour velevet, cheap, durable, and they feel good. theres no wonder theyve been the most used on tour for years. its saying something when people on tour use a 5 dollar grips when they would use the 12 dollar ones for free.

i have used those new winn grips and i thought they were just too soft for me, tacky as hell! but too soft. and becuase of the softness they wear pretty quickly, same as those new lamkin torsion control grips they wear quick too... i like a firmer grip and thats why i use tour velvet full cord grips (ribbed)... thought i look forward to trying out these GP dual durometer grips on my xtours

I am anti-winn too.. I think they are too soft.. or spongy for me.. I like good old Golf Pride Tour Velvets, or Lamkin Crosslines..

Jarred - Do you think that a heavy grip will affect the distance of your drive? Will it make the ball go farther or shorter than a lighter grip??

I was a GP New Decade man until this winter when I re-gripped all of my clubs with the Tacki-mat version - so far I'm loving them!!
Here is the Tacki-mat grip ($4.85)

and the Golf Pride ($7.75)

I like the feel of wynn grips but they are soft and do wear out quickly, they're not as bad in the rain as they used to be I've been told recently. That was their one draw back for me, the way they sucked up water like a sponge and took forever to dry, but the feel was nice but not for everyone.

I love Winn Grips. I just had all my clubs regripped with the Excel XF's.

I love them for putters as well - nice feel.
I also like these as well...the copper is nice...very old school.

That being said, grips are pretty personal - what feels good to one person might be horrible to the next.
I've had some GP Tour Velvet's and like those, though I absolutely hated the tour wraps. I liked the multi compound as well, but they are pricey.I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I respectfully disagree. I have been playing Winns for 3 yrs now and I have never used a glove even in the rain. I always had to wear one B4. The only knock I have is that with my woods they seem to wear inordinately fast. Probably because I grip them to death. But overall the best I have ever used in almost 40 years!! Will NEVER use anything else.
