this driver is freaking awesome! I tried it today and yesterday. Took my driver to the sim with me both days as well. Average 285 with my driver, 305 with the nik driver

My arms and back have gotten so big that I can barely swing as fast I could before but I'm happy with 305 for now, 400 next year

I hit them both for a while tonight at GT and actually liked the feel of both of them. The Squared is unbeilevably closed though and the sound it makes is ridiculous!!

Sure sure, you tramp! You'll switch OEM's in a heartbeat if you think you can gain 20 yards

I held one of these lunchbuckets today. I can not forsee me having one in my bag anytime soon. IMO it is just UGLY.

Toaster on a stick! Next time you have one in your hands, flip it over and tap your fingernail against the yellow part of the sole. Sounds like cheap tin.

So right now I say No Thanks Nike.

The SQ is NOT CLOSED, unless you saw an unusual example.. We had Victor Ciesielski hitting the driver today as part of the launch and he was hitting it beautifully long. I measured four of the Sumo2 drivers against a Titleist 905S and a Callaway X-tour 9.5 degree and they were just as square as either of those two.

I tried the new ones this weekend and found that I generated a tonne of backspin compared to the 905R & G5 that I was testing along side them. Wasn't too happy w/ the results because of this, but found that they were going dead straight (although so were the other models). Not something that will be making it into my bag anytime soon.

p.s. did anyone else notice higher than normal spin rates on the nikes? I found I had the same problem when testing out the sasquatch last year.

    Sumo

I hit the Sumo for the first time last night. The sound is deafening!.. It sounds like a a block of wood being struck. I almost dropped the driver. ..

I'd never get used to the sound, not even if it added 20 yrds.. I can't see why Nike would market this driver with the sound the way it is.
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

What kind of gauge did you use to measure face angles may I ask?

Not sure Chief, as out tech did it for me. What I do is put the drivers on a straight tile edge on the floor and use a short steel ruler. Seems to work fine along with 29 years of selling drivers.

I guess that would work although you can't get an exact figure in degrees. Do you let the driver sit naturally ?

Well I might be one of the biggest Nike fans on this site and i have to admit, the sound comming from the Sumo squared was enought to turn me off. The shape was fine but the cheap sound comming from that head was hard to take even after a bunch of swings. Granted they all were straight

I then tried the regular Sumo and wow what a diffrence, sounded a million times better, felt better and I was actually about 20 yards longer with the regular over the squared, well on the SIM anyways.

So there maybe a Sumo in my future, but i'm pretty sure it will not be square.

Problem with this is when you wake up beside them in the morning, they are still ugly!
Not that I have any experience with that!

It seems I have heard the same thing quite a few times now about the sound of the Square Sumo. No one seems to like the sound at contact.

Maybe if I was deaf.... I just goes to show you how much sound has an affect on the appeal.

Just went to Golf Town and saw the Callaway FT-?? (square job) and the Sumo.Trying to keep an open mind about the looks but i saw a guy hitting the Sumo and it just sounds awfull. Brick on a stick is the only way to describe it.But you never know. I said that when i start playing with clubs that have screws and weights on them that i would give up golf.Guess who has a new Taylor Made driver this year?
