The rookies left a lot of blood out there. Experience at winning was key for Tiger today.
Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Good finish! Howell's looking pretty good this season, the Odyssey Black Swirl seems to fit him well!!!

As soons as Tiger made that birdie to go back to -11.......I felt bad (well not really) for those rookies and they had no chance.

When they both double bogeyed different holes simultaneously, and Tiger birdied, it was all over but the crying and you knew his experience would win it after that! Man, what a closer!

Tiger won, Tiger won
I turned it on because of the HD talk here in the forum, saw nothing but Tiger for a few minutes and shut it off. Tiger may have done lots for the winnings of the players on the PGA Tour, but he has turned me off of watching golf when he is in the field. It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

The Golf Channel and CBS announced this morning that they are going to merge their companies into one network called TWN.(Tiger Woods Network). When Tiger is in the field of a tournament TWN will show Tiger's every move from the time he brushes his teeth in the morning until he flosses at night. Showing of fellow competitor's shots will be restricted to one per round with the condition that they be within 1 stroke of Tiger, and, a deposit of $50,000 be paid in advance, returnable only if they maintain this 1 stroke position. Funds not refunded will be used to purchase "Privacy 2", "Privacy 3," a Formula 1 car for Steve and the latest digital cameras for every person who has had their cameras chucked in the drink by Steve.
Secondly, TWN2 begins immediately and airs 24 hours per day, showing every stroke that has ever been filmed of Tiger, commercial free, beginning with his appearance on the Mike Douglas Show at age 2.
Thirdly, beginning in August, TWN3 will begin, again 24h per day and commercial free, showing the daily development of Tiger's first born in her quest to dominate the PGA Tour by the time she is 12 years old. She will be allowed in every PGA Tournament on a sponsor's exemption, 'cause her dad is the only sponsor, and will receive a star on Hollywood's walk of fame when she unseats Michelle Wie as the #1 player on the PGA Tour.
I am comforted by the fact that I am not the only one who is saturated by the media's drooling over Tiger's play. Yes, he is phenomenal, but c'mon. To think I just spent $3000+ on an HD TV to watch Tiger in life size proportion.Last edited by BC MIST; 01-29-2007 at 04:48 PM.

Bottom line folks is that TV is a sponsor driven medium......Tiger brings in the sponsors and the sponsors want Tiger to be seen so it only goes to reason that the networks will give the sponsors what they want.
I'm sure that Buick is thrilled that Tiger won their event and that the also rans "Buckled" under the pressure

Tiger
I totally agree with all the negative comments!! Although I agree with everyone that Tiger is amazing, this coverage is getting ridiculous!!!! I too am one of the ones who turns the tournament off when the Tiger coverage gets ridiculous. I can't beleive the Americans are not as sickened as we are. Did you see the lady in the gallery on hole number 15 (I think)? The nice birdie putt to take the lead I beleive. She was right behind him, in the distance, wearing red I beleive. It was like she had just won the lottery when he sank that putt. I was embarrased for her, she looked so stupid. I hope these people are that happy when their own children do something impressive. Me personally, I like to watch the tournament for the pure enjoyment of watching it, but I also watch carefully to try and learn something from these guys. Seeing el Tiger all the time does not help. We don't all have his physique and flexibility! Stupid American TV.

Personally I'd rather watch Tiger win than watch Howell miss ANOTHER 3-4 footer, and 3-4 up and comers choke...I watch the pga to watch the best. speaking of which how many Australian newspapers are sporting the headline "Buckle Buckles" today? Altohugh you can't feel too bad for him, he got paid
I say sit back and enjoy watching history in the making.NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)

When he's not in the hunt, keep the cameras off of him. The leaders deserve the coverage.

I won't miss it because the media will tell me ad nauseum if I watch or don't watch. And there are lots of things I can be doing instead of sitting in front of a TV watching Tiger smash his club into the ground after another bad tee shot that he will miracurously recover from thanks to some obsure ruling or a helpful fan.
I have no dispute with his talent, I just don't like him.It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

What don' t you like about Tiger Colby?

Do you prefer watching hefty and his ever-present eating grin slice one into the next county with a driver in his hand while standing on the 18th tee of a Major with a lead?
When Tiger shows emotion on the course it is because he CARES and he constantly strives for perfection.
As for the obscure rules helping him out, he helps himself out by knowing those obscure rules...something that we could all learn from - if we were watching

Wow, strong feelings with this thread, but I'm with those who love to watch this guy, not only for his amazing skills and commitment to the game, but for watching how those who he is playing with bring their own game up a few notches.
For me, it is not quite as interesting when he is not in the field.

I know they folded in the end, but the young guns were sure playing some good golf for most of the time. It was only when they saw Tiger in the rear view mirror that their wheels started to fall off.
Don't you find you play better when you are playing with someone who is better than you are?

As Dan mentioned, I have seen Tiger a couple of times, once in a charity tournamant, The Skins in 2002, and for four days as extra escort security at the Buick at Westchester where I shadowed him from putting green to range and the 18 holes for 4 days straight. In both instances, the first being an event strictly for the fans, he treated pretty much everybody with disdain, including the 7-8 of us volunteers who helped make his round even possible. It was even more fun when he refused to get into the van when the round was washed out and we had to walk him in from just about the furthest point out in the course.
Great golfing abilities, hopefully he will become more of a personable guy when it merits. He has done lots for the game, but could do so much more.It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

I would much rather watch Mickelson. At the Skins game I saw Tiger walk by kids looking for autographs looking straight forward and not even acknowledging them, and this was after the event was finished and he was headed for the security tent. Hefty, as you call him, had to be pulled away from the kids by the security guys, and then told the kids that after the interviews in the media tent, he would be back out to sign some more. Completely different personality.

I guess there is no arguing with that story - on that given day Tiger wasn't in a very giving mood and the fact that you still carry the memories of that day with you really does underscore the importance of making a good impression on people.
It is too bad that happened because I think Tiger gives a ton of time and even more money to kids through the Tiger Woods foundation.
It's good to hear that Phil spent lots of time with the kids.......then again, he's used to it seeing as he wanders off into the gallery after most of his drives (I can't pass up an opportunity to take a shot at hefty )

I also saw this behaviour from Tiger on all four days at Westchester. Now given that he doesn't like the course, aleggedly, and was only there because it was a Buick event, again allegedly, he may not have been in a very charitable mood, it just seemed to be a pattern I had seen before from him.
And that is probably my biggest beef. Tiger's PR crew has done such a huge job of making Tiger bigger than life, and then he isn't close to that in real life. Another touching piece of Tiger's PR group was when Tiger, and Mike I believe, were told not to sign copies of the picture of Tiger putting the Green Jacket on Weir. It's a sad statement when the almighty dollar is that important. It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.
