I am not an expert, but I have a prince which I absolutely love. Make sure you get one that is resilient, and has some nice solid plastic around the head for those pesky corner shots where you can't help but hit the wall.

Make sure you get one 170 grams or less, 10-20 grams doesn't seem like much, but after 5 or 6 games you'll notice the difference. Head and Prince make good racquets, but my favorite is the Black Night, they have a cord in thier grip which I find gives me better control (And they are a Canadian company). Go to Sportmart they sometimes carry last year models of the BK racquets, and you can get them for a good price.

I bought a high-quality raquet (Head Intelligence) a while back and it was worth every penny. I hit every wall many times, and it finally broke after about nine months of solid use. Then I proceeded to buy a cheaper Wilson product, and there is a huge difference in both performance and durability.
Therefore, if you have the money - spend it. Buy something for around $120-$150. That's if you plan to play quite a bit and improve of course.

The cheap ones break really easily. I ran through a few before spending the $$ on a nice Karakal racket. I've played at least a year with this raquet and it's still in great shape. The performance is better, and in the end you save $$ since you aren't replacing the raquet as often.

Pretty hard to beat a good Black Knight racket. They are also durable if you hit the wall with them (although you shouldn't do that ).
