    How far from Ottawa?

Thinking of taking my GF skiing for her B-day. Was just wondering, how far is Jay Peak from Ottawa?

Don't plan on being there that long that a chalet would be required. Thanks for the idea though.

We'll be staying, but from previous research I've only seen chalets available at Tremblant for Fri-Sun. We won't be staying that long.

Go to Jay, spend a night.....You are looking at 4-5 hours to get there. If you dont want to go for a night the drive to Tremblant is a lot more reasonable. Jay Peak is way better then Tremblant IMO.(for skiing that is)

Thanks Lance. I think that's what we'll do. Maybe leave Sat morning, ski the afternoon and then spend most of the day there Sun and then head home or stop somewhere along the way.

It took me around 2 hours from Montreal to get to Jay (when I was still living there) so budget an additional 1:45-2:00. I'd say allow at least 4 hours, but check with the Montreal radio stations like cjad 800 or 940 news. They will update how long it is taking to get across the various borders. The one to Jay is usually pretty quiet.

why not try lake placid? closer and a much nice town with more to do? the skiing is more or less similar.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Years ago I had a chalet at Jay. The town is Montgomery Center (small but some good bars) and the ski hill is about 4 or 5 miles from it. Jay has a great chalet, usually with a live band that starts playing at 4:30 on Saturdays. Some nice runs but can be windy at the top. I used to drive it in 1.5 hours from Montreal. They use to take C$ at par. Can't remember the name of the border crossing but it is small with very little traffic. Overall it is a quaint ski atmosphere.

    Tremblant

I have a friend that is pretty flexible in his chalet renting schedule in St.Jovite - 10 minutes from Tremblant. St.Jovite is a good time too.

If you are interested, PM me and we can discuss your interest and if schedules would work.

For golfers in the summer, great location, and has 4 bedrooms.

    Hey Geoff,

You could also try Lake Placid. White face mountain used to be great. I don't know about cost but...

    Geoff,

Go to Jay she'll love it. I skiied there lots during university. Stay the night somewhere in town. FORGET Tremblant. It's over priced, over croweded and overly windy. You'll get long lines, icy runs and a big bill.

Jay peak... Rarely busy (compared to tremblant), much better snow and better runs IMO.

If you do go to Jay peak , get there really early , or you'll be waiting in the queues for a lift pass for a long time, a smaller hill with great night skiing is Bromont, a little bit closer to montreal, and better accomodation selection.
At the end of the day ... It gets dark
