Who said that line about Yashin? I'm guessing Brett Hull.

Indio, you got the quote wrong. They were talking about Jason Blake and how much of a pest he is. Apparently opponents refer to him as a cactus on ice. He's always poking someone with his stick and the like. Now that's an annoying personality.

We agree to disagree. What I heard is what they were saying about Yashin's goals, assists and accomplishments in the All Star game ..... but hey, I am an old man maybe I should get a hearing aide.

Sorry buddy, and as much as it pains me to put this in writting, in a public place, Mr. Johnston is correct - it was Jason Blake that they were referring to.

Absolutely nothing Geoff - I didn't want to just come right out and say that Indio was WRONG - he's in his mid 50s now and is probably more "Sensitive" than in years go by

Glad to see that I wasn't the only one! It looked like she was having a seizure with her eyes closed and her hand flailing all over the place. Our athem isn't the most exciting at the best of times let alone when someone does an opera rendition. But, she got hers in the end when she fell on her ass as she was leaving the ice.............

Well said dbleber!! IMO you don't get to take liberties with National Anthems.......this isn't American or Canadian Idol where you should try to "make the song your own".

I bet those Texans in the crowd were wondering WTF??? when she went into the French lyrics

Personally I still don't see the point of singing the National Anthem before ANY game.... but thats just me I guess

Hmmm, interesting point there - does anyone know if there is a "Reason why" the Anthem is sang before sporting events? Is it some kind of Roman thing??

just the way its always been. I'm sure it started with international competitions like the olympics, where they play the winner's anthem, and sometimes they play them both. I imagine that when sports started to professionalize, they just decided to keep the tradition going. It really makes no sense now though, with so many of the players not being from the country they're playing in.

It was all "GREEK" to me I have never seen anyone butcher our National Anthem like that. I have seen 6 year kids sing it at our JR B hockey games and sing it better. She should have put that mic somewhere else other than in front of her face! Plus I have been to Texas and the girls were better looking than she was
Dallas did a fine job on organizing a great All Star Show, but they should have tried a bit harder to find someone else to sing our Anthem.
Cowboy Troy would have been a better choice.

As for Indio and those comments about your being old because you are over 50. Don't let those wise a** kids get to you Buddy. Us "OLDER GUYS" can stick together like glue! Dipers, I would like to know what those are too! Will I need some of those soon? I know I could use a hearing aid at times
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.
