Ottawa needs a Year round driving range !!
Ottawa needs a year round driving range like the Launch Golf Centre in the Toronto area.
They have space heaters blowing on you during the winter.
Check photos on website http://www.launchgolfcentre.com/gallery
Has any of you ever used this range when in T.O.??

When I took the PGM program at humber we a free membership.. Used to go a couple times a week.. If you were into the wind in feb. it was too cold to hit.. But for the most part it was awsome!

I went to Launch all the time when I was living in T.O., IMO, way better than going to a dome. Depsite the high cost ($30/hr?) it was always packed on winter weekends so you know it was popular. And there was a GT just around the corner
Not so sure it would work here though. Lots more snow and colder temps means higher costs and the Ottawa golf crowd is a lot "thriftier" than in TO. Would anyone pay over $30/hr to hit balls outdoors during the winter?

i know i just went to the Oakville Family Golf centre last week and they only charged $10 for a large bucket. They have heaters up and the balls are stored indoors overnight, so they are not frozen solid. I think a place like that would fly in Ottawa for sure.

This may be a dumb question, but here goes With an outdoor range, how do they gather the balls with snow on the ground?
Or are you guys talking about a covered range?Dirty...Mean...And Mighty Unclean.

It would have to be an unusually warm winter day for me to hit balls outdoors. I can feel the vibrations ringing through my hands already.

I will ...
It could not be like a 19th...It will be better to hit balls with dozens of indoor hitter boxes with heater.
Gathering balls? you can find nets with poles.
It is obvious that it's very cold here and lots of snow. But Only one place to hit a ball to long range at Ottawa, should be ...someone make this...please.

I know kevin Haime has a couple of indoor ranges. You can't see your entire ball flight, well not most of it either, but it at least gives you a place to go and hit balls. I have been a couple of times, and enjoyed it. If you play golf enough you know whether it was a good shot or not just by the feeling. I find it also helps on picking a target and trying to hit it with the ball over and over. also gives you a good visual as to how high the ball flight is off certain clubs. If you are in the bush like me, it's helpful when trying to go under a tree.
