Question for you Scotty Guru's
Why is the ball mark repair tool on the Scotty Cameron site called a "pivot tool"?
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

I think it looks like a pivot and is a play on words of divot?
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I believe Scotty gave it that name when he designed it.. Unlike other tools it is designed to be placed in the ground and rolled (or pivoted).

"Introduced in 2001, the Cameron pivot tool is the result of Scotty's tinkering. This tool has been the subject of numerous magazine articles and used by many of the worlds top touring professionals. Its unique design provides more leverage when repairing divots and is environmentally sound for the greens. It truly is form following function."

basically, they give it a different name, which makes it "unique to Scotty Cameron", which means they can charge excessive amounts of money for them.

Fair enough. Didn't really mean to ruffle many feathers...I just can't believe what the man is able to charge for some of his accessories (though I'm dying to get my hands on a putter.

No worries Jonf.. perhaps I jumped the gun.. I am just growing tired of these kind of replies.. For me this section was established for those into Cameron goodies to chat. Continuely threads are being "made fun of" and its growing old. There are a fair amount of ppl here that are not into Camerons and perhaps they don't need to reply to these post, unless they have something helpful to add..

If people have negative opinions that is OK to post, as long as it is done respectfully.

not too overpriced IMHO. I payed $20 for a ball mark repair tool (not a Scotty) at the marshes. I've got a Scotty one as well.

Jon, I don't think its that fact that he charges so much. I find when I browse the Scotty online store stuff is reasonably priced. Its when I see stuff posted on forums such as this one where the supply is limited and demand is high that the prices go up. I think maybe you might be mistaken there."A life lived in fear of the new and the untried is not a life lived to its fullest." M.Pare 10/09/08

I general I find the stuff on here pretty reasonable. I'd never pay retail for one, nor would I pay some of the collector's prices as I want to game mine. You can easily find one on here for $200 total where they sell for over $400 new once you add tax. And most of the ones on here in that range are in great shape or mint.
