Hypothetical question #2
what would you do if you were havng a get together with 30 of your closest friends and there was one person that everyone hated and you really don't want to invite them but it would be very hard to not invite them. When I say everyone hates this person I mean everyone hates this person, the only reason you don't hate this person is because you are indebted to them because they come up huge when you needed them
PS geoff, great idea... good way to get your post count up!

Hate is a strong word. Would there be potential for a fight?
How bad would it be to have the person there?Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

LMAO I saw Dan as the first poster and thought it was him telling you to get a life; not poking the fire!

yeah seriously!! hahaha
Well dan, this person has done nothing but make up lies about pretty much everyone at this party. I doubt there would be a fight because this person is a girl. It is possible that one of the girls may take a shot at her. Hate is a strong word but I honestly can't think of a stronger word so that will have to do. I'm leaning towards not inviting this person (not hypotheticalanymore).
I would feel like crap if I didn't. I'm sure the 30 or so people that are there will not be to pleased to see her and other than myself she won't have anyone to talk to and I'll be busy talking to the guests...

Well maybe if you didn't invite him, and made it known why he wasn't invited, then he'd kinda catch on that nobody likes him because he's a lying *****hat and try to straighten up. Likely not, but at least the other 29 people at the party would be happy.
I think your Spock quote in the other thread pretty much sums it up.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

/ Dr. Phil hat on.
If you don't want her there, don't invite her. If she's not smart enough to get the message that her actions need to change, she's baggage that need to be jettisoned.
Oddly enough, I have this conversation with my wife on a regular basis.

sounds like a plan, but its not easy telling someone that all the person they think are their friends... hate them. This person is pretty dumb, its obivousl and they choose not to see it. Anyway, Will tell them tonight, see what happens. Add me to the list of people to be talked about and trashed

the answer ... accidentally have them see this thread.
through a 'ooops wrong window' moment in msn
this quote will seal the deal:

You said this person has gotten you out of lots of jams in the past, right? Here's the question: Do you get yourself in enough trouble that you'll need her help again? Or are there enough other people who can now help you out if you need a hand? (ie, if you DON"T invite her, will you gain 30 people who are willing to go to bat for you?)

Is she hot? If not, don't invite her. If so, invite me too.

Just to clarify, I am usually telling the wife to jettison somebody from her circle of "friends" so there is no couch time for me.

Hey ########, as you may have already heard I'm having a birthday dinner at lahore tikka house on gerard st. and although I would love for you to be there I don't think its going to be possible. Most of the people that are going to be there are the people you have been *ing about for the last 3 months and I'm sure it would take away from their enjoyment if you were there. Its my birthday, I don't want any drama and I don't see how there will not be any if you come. If you want to do something for my bday after thats no problem, we can do something together. I remember a few weeks ago I told you that I personally don't have a problem with you because you've never done anything to be execpt be a good friend but
it is a concern that as soon as I do something to upset you, rather than talking about it you are going to turn on me like you have everyone else and I'm not ok with that. I've told you in the past that rather than talking about it to everyone else except the person you have the problem with, why not go for coffee and talk things out? Anyway, I've made up my mind, hopefully you aren't to upset. If you are, feel free to call me and we can talk about it. If I hear from anyone you are going around talking trash I will kill your dog and eat your fish

PS she is not hot at all... which is why I'm ok with her not talking to me anymore.
