Studio design #2 going for restoration
I decided to jump on the band wagon for the fun of it. I'm sending this Scotty to the Cameron Custom shop for a make over. Not alot can be done as to changes, other than going with Platinum finish perhaps and 2 different colours. Any suggestions?

Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

Looks like it will make a nice restoration candidate. Old, but not badly dinged.
What is your taste in colours? Sophisticated, traditional or neon funky?Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

I was thinking of going traditional, then reconsidered as I wanted it to be fun and a surprise. @ the Custom shop as you know let you have a choice of 2 colours but the technicians decide where they go.. Colour combo's I considered were lime green-orange, purple-orange, purple-green, yellow-blue.

Purple looks great on gun blues. If you go pro plat, merlot and ink blue is a really nice combo. Are you going to go with standard grip/hc? The winn black and gold wrap for an extra $20 looks great with the traditional paint fill and hc.

Ink blue is pimp.
If I was doing the putter it would be PP with red and white fill. Red studio grip and the headcover would be my mapleleaf. Oh yeah.. Thats as canadian as it can get
Lime and white also looks cool. Not sure if they are doing purple anymore.. It was supposed to be a limited run until the end of 06. I see the purple headcover is no longer an option.Proud Member BigJohnnys Ryder Cup Team '08

I think they'll still do purple paint fill though? Red nylon hc would look good with red and white too.

What do you think about going platinum finish... or keep it black oxide?
Would the platinum finish change the feel?Last edited by The Saint; 01-10-2007 at 02:02 PM.

I honestly don't notice any difference in my putter between the old GB and now that it's pro plat. A lot of people say it's 'clickier', but I haven't experienced that. I went with pro plat because it's a lot easier to maintain, no worries about rust or oiling it up like with my circa.

The #1 reason I haven't done my SD1 in PP is I am worried about this... I love the feel now and I am afraid it will change. It has to feel diff. Its such a harder finish. But so far many say they don't notice the diff. The maintenace will be so much less which would be nice..

FWIW Pro Platinum is not recomended for the TeI3. They say it is a harder feel to the insert. The whole idea of the insert is the softer feel, but that's the only one they recommend not going PP due to the feel difference.

To apply the finish, they just dip the putters in a nickel bath. With the TeI3 that means it goes on the insert as well, and that's why it isn't recommended. You can get other places to do a nickel finish on a TeI3 without plating the insert if that's something you're interested in.

Nooo not me. My Tei3 is coming back in 38 days with original finish
I was just shedding light on the issue of how and when PP affects feel.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Well this whole PP finish has me thinking... I saw a SD putter that had a dark grey metallical finish, almost like black pearl but didn't have the rainbow colours. Do you know if the custom shop does that?. I guess I could ask myself, but thought some of you guys might know.

Choal mist. Its awsome.. They do this to putters that had black pearl finishes originally as they are currently unable to redo them. So no you can't get that putter choal misted..
