Chief, I did not know you had any interest in the NFL...agree with your picks...Garcia is the better QB, could be a nasty controversy in Philly next season...

I don't follow it that much during the regular season but this time of the year I won't miss a game.

Ravens over the colts. The colts offense looked weak, and is going up against one of the top defences in the league. The colts somehow managed to shut down Larry Johnson, but I think they used up all their defensive magic.
There's no way the Eagles are going to stop Brees and company now that Shephard is out of the lineup with a dislocated shoulder. He's the key to that secondary, and they are just going to get torched by the Saints. Garcia and Westbrook will keep it close, but the Saints will win for sure.
Not sure about the seahawks. They did not look impressive last night against Dallas, but the Bears' offense looks weak. Grossman continues to play like crap. The key will be Alexander. If he can pick up decent yardage, the seahawks will win. If the Bears can prevent him from breaking any big runs, and keep his ypc down, they'll squeak it out. I take the Seahawks to win it on a last second field goal, setup by a Rex Grossman interception (or maybe a fumble).
I don't know what to think about New England and San Diego. New England is the best playoff team in the NFL. They know how to win. At the same time, they're facing a team that has the NFL MVP, and the man who (although he's a big fat cheater) is the most dominant defensive presence in the league....17 sacks in 12 games is just insanity. If Seymour and the Pats defensive line can put the pressure on Rivers, he will start making mistakes. This game could go either way, but I'm going to have to side with the experience of the Pats.

I tend to pull for underdogs...pull against those teams who win year after year.
Since I was born in New Orleans, I enjoy pulling for LSU, but I am not a rabid fan.

BRIAN DAWKINS!!!
I'm actually rather happy with this matchup, because it means one of my favs are going to the NFC Championship. I think it's going to be a hell of a game to watch, and although the QB scale is tipped heavily in favour of the Saints, Garcia got his mediocre game out of him. The Giants blitzed him all game and he didn't turn it over, I don't see the Saints bringing as much pressure and he should be able to keep it close.
My prediction is 24-20 Saints.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

Division Playoffs
Baltimore over Indy, don't think Manning can overcome his playoff record;
Philly over Saints, playoff experience and emotion will prevail;
Bears over Seahawks, win despite average QB and Seattle is too banged up;
Pats over Chargers, Brady experience over Chargers stars

Manning won't be on the losing end forever. Bears were not very impressive in the playoffs last year.

Division Playoffs
I hope you are right, shame to see a guy with such a great talent/career never make it in the playoffs. Maybe it is genetic? What was Archie's record post-season? As for the Bears, well they win despite the QB. Seattle is my favourite team (ex-Vancouverite) but did not see a lot in the Dallas game to inspire confidence. Glad I don't have to make a living prognosticating.

Colts, Saints, Bears and Patriots.
Let me add something. I like the Indy Colts, but the old records set under Johnny Unitas with the Baltimore Colts do not belong to the Indiannapolis Colts. The latter did not exist at the time. A small complaint, I know, but it is really quite annoying and an exercise in historical revisionism to attribute the early records to a team that did not exist.

colts eagles bears chargers... all straight up and against the spreads
-
01-13-2007 12:18 PM #21
What are you saying? If you're betting the Dog to win straight up, then you bet the moneyline not the spread. I know this isn't a gambling forum, but that just doesn't seem to make sense unless you are making 6 wagers (spread and moneyline for the dogs and spread for the favs).
The bears are currently at -9.5. I know Seattle looked rather week againts the Boys last week, and the hawks are probably the biggest public dog of the weekend, but that is one juicy line up against a not so stellar (as of late) Bears offense.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

I do not gamble...
I do not gamble, not even $1 Nassau...
but I love to play with numbers...
for what it's worth, here are my point spreads:
Seattle by 0.69 points
Philly by 0.54 points
San Diego by 0.46 points
Indy by 6.09 points
So I expect 3 of the 4 games to be extremely close, if Indy can stop the run, and if they break out on top early, that game could be a blowout in Indy's favour.

One Giant Step!
Indy takes a giant step forward...if New England beats San Diego, they have to go to Indy - the winner of that game will win the Super Bowl laughing!!
