I found Pelz's short game bible excellent for things like this. You want to position the ball such that it is just behind where your club will first contact the ground on your downswing, i.e., hit the ball first. With proper setup this should be in the middle of your stance. The trick is to recognize where the middle of your stance is! It is between your heels, not necessarily your toes. Since most will open up the lead foot, centering the ball between your toes will move it too far forward.
The other big point made here is to let the club do the work. You've got to keep the lead wrist at least flat and the trailing wrist kocked. Flipping is the kiss of death and results in shanks, skulls, chunks, you name it. My biggest problem is keeping my hands from doing stupid things. If I can keep them out of the picture then I can usually execute. But once they decide to get in on the act, arrgggg!I don't have an ulcer - I am just a carrier.
