Scotty repair
O.k,so i e-mailed the Scotty shop to see if they can repair a putter with a ding on the sole. They mail me back saying unlikely, since it may be too close to the lettering. So i send a pic over to them, and they tell me possably, but we would need to evaluate the putter first, fair enough.
I'm very tempted, what do you guys think?Should i take the chance and send it in?Dirty...Mean...And Mighty Unclean.

I am with dan. If its strictly for esthetics.. don't bother.. If it won't effect the putters playability and your going to game it, I wouldn't worry about it.

I was under the impression that they would fill in a hole that could not be ground down for a fee ... or is it so close to the lettering that they couldn't even do that?
p.s. you could always ebay it and buy another one in resto shape and send it in ... would probably break about even on the deal minus shipping and guaruntee a full restoNCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)

here's a thought, get it done locally ... just need someone to fill it and buff it. Then send it for a resto, they'll clean it all up and go right over the filled area. It's it's otr not having a coa isn't the end of the world

I can do the weld myself no problem, the trouble is the lettering,i will not be able to grind, buff without screwing the lettering.
I was hoping to do a complete restore, then put it away for 10 years
I will most likely be shot for saying this but...i dont like playing Scotty's
They are majestic to look at but for me,they just dont sink putts.Dirty...Mean...And Mighty Unclean.

Cov, I am no club repair guy but seems to me I remember my dad having a tube of something called liquid weld. It was like a mercury substance except when applied to a metal surface it would harden and stick. Very shiney. Not sure if it is sold anymore because of the mercury content but hey, worth a look see.

B, I think you could do better by putting the money in a 2% money market than paying to resto an otr putter and put it away for 10 years. Even now, new-in-plastic oil cans and gun blues don't go for much more than their original price, unadjusted for inflation. Even Classic 1s are probably below their inflation adjusted new price...except if you're a lefty like me, then they're $3-$5K and freakin righty collectors own them all and want your money and your left for one ....I digress.
If you like it, it's a great gamer, but if you don't like it, I'd just flea bay it as is.

True! Easier to hide putters from the wife too. Your strategy is growing on me.
