Question Need help for Short Backswing

My practice swings without a ball are a thing of beauty. Unfortunately, as soon as I tee up,(doesn't matter if it is at the range or the course), I severely, like vertical, shorten my backswing and lose distance. Can anyone suggest a practise routine I could use to at least alleviate this yardage thief ?

try pulling "a Mike Weir". Feel the backswing as you have already aligned the ball. Confidence is needed and follow through.

    my 2 cents.
