Pinehurst!!
I have visited the Pinehurst resort website and I have decided to go there on the Canadian Under Par package at $154/night. I was wondering if any OG'rs have been there and what they thought of it. I am thinking of driving to Buffalo and taking a plane to Fayetteville.
Any other suggestions as to the best way to get there? Perhaps via Syracuse?Lefty Lucas

I've been to Pinehurst twice. Pinehurst is top notch. The food at all the restaurants is very good and the service is excellent.
I've always flown into Raleigh and then driven from there. It's a pretty easy drive and there should be enough daylight left to hit the range depending on when you go.
When it comes to which courses to play, I would recommend the following:
#2: The classic. You need to play this at least once and it's worth the extra fee. Make sure you get a caddy.
#8: My next favourite. A more modern take on the style of #2 with more trees and water in play.
#4: Notwithstanding the 5,000 bunkers, I like this course.
As to the others, I haven't played #6, which I have heard good things about.
When I last played #7 I didn't like it at all, but they have since remodeled it so it may be worth checking out.
Of the remaining courses, #5 and #3 are OK but I'd only play them as a cheap second round.
Have fun.

Funny you mention that we took one when we were there, they let us take a cart
then tour around #2..
If you go you might want to try tobacco road and the Pit as well..there are a bunch
of other courses that are nice in the area that are cheaper the the ones at
Pinehurst resort...
We drove the couple of times we went...its a days drive, and not a hard one at that
but if you are going to fly raleigh is the closest big city..

You bet Fundonny, I willl take a lot of pics and Payne is already on the list. We arrive at 11 and we do not check in until 4 so we will ahve time to check out another course. we also got lucky as the hurricanes play that nigth so we will buy cjeapy seats and move down to the lower bowl.
