Tiger did have an amazing year, but how could this award not go to Federer?? The guy is completely dominating a sport in a much larger fashion than Tiger or Tomlinson.

This is large proof that the vote is favoured to the "popular" sports that americans are tops. I will guarantee you if Andy Roddick had a year like Federer, there would be no doubt that he would have won the award, no doubt at all! Man by this slight, it would have taked Claussen (sp?) about 15 medals to garner attention for the award!!!

I think Woods' biggest accomplishment is that he has put the sport of golf on the map to the point where a golfer can compete and win against the Best football, baseball and basketball players in America.

Tennis has lost some of its sex appeal because there are no real US Superstars to get the American fans interested in the sport.

Good on Tiger though for recognizing the accomplishments of Federer - yet another example of just how classy Tiger really is...

My vote would go to Tiger.

For me, tennis just hasn't been the same since the likes of Boris Becker, Michael Stich, John McEnroe, and Jimmy Connors left the game.
