Dan, you'll love putting with this. As far as looks go. the canidian look is great. But be carefull as to what you do yourself. As im quickly learning you can turn a $500 putter into a $ 150 putter pretty quickly. If you plan on gaming it for a long time, its no big deal. But if you want to resell after awhile people will not go for anything aftermarket at a premium price.
Welcome to the sickness of scotty collecting.

Kevin is much cheaper than Scotty's shop, but if your buying a scotty then might as well keep it in scotty's shop where the work is 100% guarenteed... i dont know just my thoughts... hes good if you want other finishes other than what scotty offers like nickel plating and stuff.. but for stock finishes i send all my stuff to scotty...

Agreed, but if you engrave and do custom work the resale will be alot less no?
I got in touch with them and almost sent mine in for the coloured polka-dot look in matt black(just like the one on the website)It's pimp city!
Would have cost less than 200 canadian to boot!Dirty...Mean...And Mighty Unclean.

I just picked it up and it is just as advertised 7/10. A few dings, nothing deep and nothing dinged through the top line where it joins with the insert. It looks like a perfect restoration candidate.
A few putts on the living room rug, and I am wondering if any tweeking is needed at all, but I will get it fitted anyway.
I'll shoot some before pictures, and photoshop some potential paint schemes. Stay tuned.
Off to leave knickers some feedback. Thanks a lot.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

OK so here are the pics. (ignoring the Bollywood boy who was last seen dancing with men in a California vinyard at sunset, very romantic indeed, but I digress)
Anyway, the soon to be custom Dan Kilbank Putter.

Next question. A restoration includes tweaking and re-shaft and re-grip, so once I get speced out, I should probably pull the shaft and ship the head only to the SC Studio. Any recommendations on the best way to pull it?

yeah it would be cheaper to just send the head than all of it...
i would get a pro to pull the shaft like jamie at GT, or the Saint... cuz you could damage the neck if u dont do it properly (i think)

Swing Sync is just around the corner and Eric can certainly measure me for it and pull the shaft.
I was thinking about it and so I asked more out of curiosity since this is starting to be a "build thread" documenting the process. So let's go ahead and get all the info. What would a pro club builder do to get the prep right? While we're at it any suggestions on how to do a home measurement for loft, length and lie for a putter?

check the Ping web-site. they have a fitting section, it asks you for write to floor mesurements, hight etc... it will then tell you what lie angle and putter high you should be using.. i dont know about determing putter lofts...
for "at home" fitting that is the best i can think of...

Bah, a newport shaft is easy to pull, there's only a 1/2" insertion depth. If you have a heat gun, heat it up around the hosel, put the head in a towel on the floor, step on the head to brace it, then pull the shaft out. A gas element on a stove would do the trick too.
Loft, length and lie should be determined through a putter fitting session. It's such a unique swing that a static fit isn't going to do much for you. I think Golfworks does them for $15. Get the data and then put your specs on your order.

ok this is what I never understood about you scotty freaks (you included dan). First you buy a putter that needs to be restored and spend $300 restoring it, why nut just but a BRAND NEW scotty for $329 or $349 or something? I'm sure the newer it is the better it is with the new technology... yes? no?

- Because this is way more fun for roughly the same cost.
- I love the look and feel of the TeI3, but it's not available new anymore. The Circa 62 is not as appealing to me as the TeI3. I will not putt with a Volkswagen on a stick, so the Futuras/Phantoms are out, the American Classic is just too plain for me etc etc... I wanted a TeI3 for my gamer.
- If you have looked closely at the refinished Scottys? they look way better than new ones. Bling factor.
- It will be properly fitted. I have had custom irons and woods for years but my putter has always been OTR.
- It will be CUSTOMIZED - It will have my initials engraved in it and my choice of paintfil, grip and headcover . If you add in a custom grip and headcover to the OTR price what have you saved?
- How much of a story would there be in going to GT and buying a Scotty OTR?
