Over to the Dark Side - Scotty Cameron TeI3 restoration

I am going to the dark side. I am picking up a Scotty Cameron TeI3 in the next few days (thanks knickers) for a restoration and customization. Of course I will be getting it tweaked for loft, lie and length but I am wondering about some of the myriad of other options when doing a rebuild.

One option I am inclined to do my initials in the Dancing font, either DK or DAN not sure which yet. To heck with what they say about the resale value when you initial a Scotty, this is going to be my gamer. Besides, maybe Richard will want it one day and it will be worth WAY more than going rate!

Finish is another option, but I don't have the putter yet so I don't know what the original is.... stay tuned

    Ceritfied or no?

I'd do DAN in the dancing font... i'd keep the original TeI3 finish balck with the copper inset and the white dots on the back... thoght i would get the CS to fix the white... do like an orange paintfill with the matching CS orange grip and headover... yeah that sounds about right... and your lookin at about
i think these are the prices... could be off by a few bucks

    $170 for the restauration
    $27 for the grip
    $47 for the headover
    $0 for the paintfill

I think the initials are $30, original finish, new shaft, grip and headcover are included. Shipping is extra, so $250 CDN should be pretty close. I see they only use FEDEX. Not sure what Fedex broker fees are for something like this. Anyone?

Pimpin headcover & grip may be extra, but i'm not sure about the pink/orange/lime thing. Merlot may work.

Dan...may I just say...Thank you for removing the temptation. I wonder if it would be possible to get multimple colours for the dots. You could go for the patriotic look and get red on the left hand side, white in the midle, and red on the right. I'm probably the only person who would think that looks cool though.

Nice, I'd definitely keep it original finish, you saw how nice Nat's looked. Also, if you do it pro plat, they put that on the insert too which takes away from the whole TeI3 look I think. Custom shop uses fed ex express, so no brokerage fees. Make sure you mark the customs form 'repair/fix' when you send it, and request the custom shop do the same (in the 'notes' part of your order form).

I REALLY like the color fill there Dan!! I'm sure that they will be able to do that for you. Are you planning on getting the Canadian head-cover? I'd love one of those but I haven't seen one for under $100 yet. What grip are you planning on going with? Red Dancing? Might I suggest that you go with you initials on the heal-bumper and OG on the toe bumper...

Whatever you decide to do, it'll looke awesome

One of the guys on CameronCollector.com just said that they don't paint the back, that the white dots are not paint, but the polymer showing through.

I may have to do it myself. We'll see.

I'll pick it up tomorrow, so I'm ahead of myself here anyway.

Pretty knowlegable group. It's kinda strange having so much talk about one brand of putter.

LOL - Dan, you made a reference to Star Wars in your opening post.......the Star Wars community is a good analogy to the Scotty Cameron community, both have a lot of "knowlegable" members who can talk for an eternity about the subject that they are so passionate about

That's what I thought too. What started out as one innocent little purchase has turned into 4 Scotties and a total of 7 headcovers......Sometimes I wake up at night in a cold sweat after a recurring nightmare of my wife literally skinning me alive because I finally gave in to the over powering urge to spend $2500+ on a nice Circle T or a Garage model

It's a freaking sickness I tell you...........I'm currently being proactive though, I'm searching for a local chapter of Scotty Cameron Annonymous
