    FedEx is Santa!

I sent a putter off to the Cameron custom shop last month and FedEx just dropped off the yellow box. First the before pictures. As you can see, it's a Cameron Studio Design 1 with a Gun Blue finish. These pictures were taken after I'd used steel wool to take off most of the surface rust, and then used metal polish to brighten it up a bit. The finish was fading quick and there was still a lot of rust on it despite the steel wool and metal polish. Also the topline had been beat to hell, the pictures don't show how bad it was.

And now....she's so pretty! I went with a pro platinum finish because I didn't want to worry too much about it rusting in our crappy weather. I also decked it out in purple with lime green accents. It was a limited time offering by the custom shop and I really like the headcover, it's a nylon type fabric. Anyway, the custom shop people are magicians, no dings, no rust, new milling, I'm blown away by the results.

Now here comes the question we all want to ask...Since I have no cooth it might as well be me how much did it cost?

Did they give you your old parts back.. i.e. grip and shaft? or did they use the old shaft?
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

I have no secrets, and it's all there at ScottyCameron.com too. First of all, I pulled the shaft and only sent the head in to save on postage, so I still have the original shaft, grip and headcover. A reshaft is included in a putter restoration.

Shipping the head to California was $18ish for express post. A complete restoration of the putter is $110. That price includes restoration back to original finish, a new shaft including a new original grip and a new original headcover. I went for a few options including the pro platinum finish, the custom grip, and the custom headcover. Shipping back to me was $35ish. Sooooo, $209US plus ~$50 shipping. Didn't get any customs charges yet, but I might have to pay tax on the cover and grip. Putter was 'repaired', so there shouldn't be any charges there.

And I'm not going to sell anything, sorry Jarred, Lance asked first anyway, lol.

This is probably as stupid a question as I think it is, but do they only restore scotty putters? I have a Cleveland TA Milled putter that is in similar condition to yours before the restoration and I think it would be money if it got a similar treatment. They can slap a Scotty sticker on the damn thing for all I care.

Hahaha...Bayshore/Urlacher stuff first though, right? The cammy thing sounds like more of a triumphant gesture, like a celebration of a great feat.

Tom Slighter does the refinishing work you're looking for. http://www.slightergolf.com/

they re-mill the putter. they shave it down until the dings arnt visible. if you look closely enough the putter is acctually smaller depending on how bigs the dings were...

That makes more sense than what I was thinking...thanks man. Would this change the weight of the putter or too little to notice?

If you can afford to refinish a Scotty, why not get a new Slighter? Man, if I had the money, I would love to have his "Kent" model!

Are you the reason why they keep them under lock and key now?

They don't need to keep them under lock and key, but I'd recommend not taking them out of the plastic
